How long do I keep annual leave?

Post by rm300 »

So I have 3 weeks booked next month that I had to use before next year,.. I may have to go off long term sick before that date for an operation.

Say I go off sick the 3 weeks annual leave will go back into my entitlement and get carried over correct?

Can annual leave ever expire or do I have them forever until I use them?

Also should I leave at any point will I get paid for the annual leave I haven’t used?

Thanks

Even when sick, you still accrue annual leave entitlement

The Working Time Regulations state that when long-term sick you can carry over entitlement into the following leave year, but for 18 months maximum before you lose it as a statutory entitlement

Royal Mail might allow an extension under a contractual agreement.

The Key is might, they do not have too

It will be carried over to next year if there are no slots left for this year, you won't lose them.
Then next year the process starts again.
They may allocate you weeks off willy nilly if things get out of hand.

We’ve been told no more than one week to be carried over. Use it or lose it?
