Queens Platinum Jubilee
I was reading the news earlier and I spotted this
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59929077
Presumably RM won't have to apply to OFCOM for a non service day now.

The Thursday and Friday are bank Holidays, the Saturday isn't.

Re: Queens Platinum Jubilee
I'm already getting annoyed at everyone calling it a 4 day weekend. You can bet it won't be for us, we'll be working Saturday. Will the union even bother to try and get us the 4 days ? I rather doubt it.

Probably should push for Easter Saturday first...Redvannon wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022, 06:28Ahh my bad!Jefferson Starfish wrote: ↑10 Jan 2022, 18:27The Thursday and Friday are bank Holidays, the Saturday isn't.I must've misread it thinking that we'd got all 4 days off. It'd be nice if the union pushed for a non service day but I suspect the chances of that would be slim.

Re: Queens Platinum Jubilee
I wasn't expecting the Saturday Screw-over to happen again so soon. Might be embarassing for Royal Mail for their staff to be seen out working on a supposed royal holiday. I know they have no shame, but they do have a PR department.
The machine stops.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You are allowed to work apparently but you have to put some black tape over the crown insignia on the vans.
I wouldn't worry too much I expect Terry & Simon will be having the day off ... Representing all their Members & Employees.

Re: Queens Platinum Jubilee
It seems The CWU have already got onto this and have started the ball rolling for it to be a non service day.
Loads of Royal Mail members asking us about the Queen’s Jubilee weekend. We have engaged the company and updates will follow.
