• One day with pay for parent-in-law or grandparent (or equivalent in a civil
partnership or long-standing unmarried relationship). This is usually to

picture123 is correct;

Bereavement (other family members and friends): It’s an upsetting time when someone close to you
passes away. Managers will do their best to allow you time to deal with your loss.
• Your manager can provide you with up to one week’s paid leave for immediate family, e.g. next of kin or
blood relative (spouse, civil partner, child, parent or sibling), to support you during this difficult time.
• If a member of your family, e.g. grandparent or parent-in-law passes away, your manager can give you one
day’s paid leave to attend the funeral.
• For wider family or friends, you can agree with your manager whether to swap shifts, make up the time,
take unpaid leave or holiday

Re: HR question - Death of Grandparent
The Bereavement policy is yet another agreement that is well past its sell by date and no longer fit for purpose.
The Equality Act now sets policy.
Grief affects different people in different ways. All you need is a doctor's chit for any absence over seven days.

Do you still get a week if you are arranging the funeral?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.
