Being told to scan as 'inaccessible' when not

It’s been so busy lately that some days we’ve even failed on tracked. I always scan them as “delivery not attempted”. I was talking to a colleague and they told me that on one occasion the manager told them to scan failed tracked as “inaccessible”, even though this wasn’t the case. I told my colleague if they tried that with me I would refuse, or ask the manager to scan it themselves.

Where do we stand on this? Surely scanning something as “inaccessible” - when it isn’t the case - is fraud?

Is it really fraud, as I can't see the CPS ever pressing charges for fraud if it was ever brought to their attention, more likely it is a case of supplying the customer misinformation. If the OP did email Simon with false details how could he ever investigate matters? Plus sometimes it's better the devil you know than the one you don't when it comes to managers!

The OP could use RM Speak Up to report this confidentially. The fact that these are Tracked items would make it pretty easy to investigate IMO, if times and dates are supplied.

If the packet didn't get to the 'right place' then ...well it was unable to be reached; "inaccessible"

I suppose the scan code 'CBA' might be more appropriate??

I'm not talking police, it's fraud when a manager claims one thing and another thing happens.
Remember all these figures are collated.
And while ssdd has pointed out the 'speak up' thing (I always forget that) a fake name would not be a problem if it's pointed out it's fake for obvious reasons.

Failed tracked should be scanned as "delivery not attempted", you are correct. Ignore any request to scan it as anything else, as they are just trying to look after their own bonus.

Don't forget, whenever you scan an item it is YOUR name against that scan on the audit trail. If a manager is asking you to something that is against official company policy/procedure, you need to remember that if there is ever an investigation into any wrong doings you will asked to account for your actions, and I bet that no managers will put their head on the chopping block and say they told you to do it!

I have personally witnessed 2 situations over the years where the IB have paid an early morning visit.....and it has been the DOM & Lino hauled off the shop floor so you never know what is going on!

A minor issue of this situation occurred in my office some time back - I told the manager that yes, I will scan as requested but insisted that he logged onto the PDA in HIS name so that it was HIS name against the scans. I also made a note of the date, time, managers name and what was instructed.....just in case! Sad that this is what things have been reduced to, in what was once a very proud service to be a part of.

Happens all the time with our managers, it's a routine operation for them. They also have a trick where they use paper signs to deliver specials after the alloted time instead of using the PDA. Who knows what else they're covering up?

If you're reading Simon, why would i care when the above plus more happens and you do nothing about it?

And even then customers come into the CSP demanding to know why someone has requested not to deliver to their address on that day. That is what the email that gets sent out to the customer when an item has been scanned as retention.
