Overtime

Post by postieblueshirt »

OK so at this time of year they want you to work your day off even though in reality you need your day off more than ever because everyday is mental. So why on earth is there no overtime rate as soon as you go above your normal hours!!.so they try and pressure you to working it but it's not worth it..or is there a higher rate?

It's definitely not worth it, if you aren't going to get your 8+ hours overtime for each month in a qualifying period for holiday pay reflecting your overtime.

If they want "sporadic" overtime claimers to stay out and complete, they should offer them double rate overtime, which is effectively what the regular overtimers now get if they qualify for extra holiday pay.

I really can’t believe what we earn for an hours overtime. It is embarrassing. I will never do ot for what we get after tax. Im sure I’d go a long way to find a grown adult on less money per hour for a back breaking energetic job.

i suppose thats why ghost ot is still a thing, an incentive to get descent money for doing something win win for the manager and opg.but the actual you get for a day off is shocking after tax and ni.

Then they say, but we will pay you at SA rate! Which is only 33p more than the normal overtime rate.

SA rates need to be reviewed. Your better off claiming pressure OT when the holiday pay is added.

Double? Really? Think your maths is out there. You get it paid, and rightly so, for 4 weeks when you're on holiday.

The hrs overtime worked in December DO count towards your overall payment. The pass bit just means you don't HAVE to do the 8 hrs min (ironically as it's the one month you'd have no problems doing it).
