Question regarding overtime minus finishing early.

Hello, I just have a question I am hoping someone can answer. So I'm on a 32hr contract, which is pretty much 6.5 hours a day. So I do a different round every day of the week, one of those days is a collection. When i do the collection I work 8 5 hours that day, meaning that's 2 hours overtime. That's all fine. So say one of the other days, I finish 2 hours early, is it correct that royal mail can take away the overtime i worked? Same if I work 1 hour overtime for the week, then finish 30 mins early one day of the same week, can they take away 30 mins of my overtime? Because this happens to me. This has been happening all of the 3 years I have been working. Its quite possibly correct, I just wanted to know.

Sounds like you are being shafted. Union should be all over this.

Just did a quick search and banking of hours is a definite no no. Not in the agreement. You've been done here. Do a topic search for "banking hours" in Blue shirts and Union forums and you'll see. Speak to your rep and he may be able to claw back money you're owed... I doubt it though! Management in this company never surprise me how low they can go to save a few pennies. Scum.

Collection hours in our office are factored into your rounds, so the .5 a day looks like the extra time added for the collection that week. So you look at the time to do the rounds as 6 hours not 6.5, and any time over that would be overtime.
You may need to get a breakdown of how your hours work though, to be sure.

As per other answers no it's not correct they shouldn't be trying to impose a "swings and roundabouts" situation.

I'm surprised with the finishing 2 hours early comment though, certainly a distant memory round my way !

Our office do it on a weekly basis, if you're over at the end of the week you get paid the overtime. If not, regardless of working over any days you don't get it. Area know about it and let it go.

You seriously need to get the union involved and need to take it as high and for as long as possible.
You have been seriously stitched up.

Have you always worked the same rounds, if so, I assume the contract you, perhaps without being informed, was on the basis you'd finish early one day but later the other day?

However if you use to work 6.5 hrs daily you might well have been stiched up when you changed your rounds!

So if you do 37hrs by Friday, you don't have to come in Saturday if you decline the weeks overtime you accrued? Thought not. It's bxllshxt.

If they tried that in our office there would be no-one in on the saturday except those on schedules saturdays.
