Contracted Hours and Actual Working days

Post by nobLe97 »

Hello everyone,

I am contracted 24 hours. Times are 8.30-2.30 so 6 hours a day. However, I work 5 days a week. Payslip only shows the contracted 24?

Any help?

I'm in a similar boat. om my contact I am 24 hours 4 days. I have always been done for 5 days.

Because of this, I have to put done overtime of 1h 12m every day to make up the shortfall. I guess the system thinks that if I'm working 5 days I'm only doing 4h 48m a day.

It is a right pain. I'm in early so have to add prep. I am working full-time shifts so have ATD to add. And then often do extra as the car share partner has agreed to. 4 types of overtime every day. Not to mention adding breaks on as excess.
I'm turning purple!

Are you being asked to work your days off? if not you should be on a 30 hour contract, get a union rep involved and make sure you get back payed for the time owed.

Thanks for the replies. How do I found out who and contact my union rep? Also is there a number/email for payroll queries?

Yeah you're doing the same as us 30 hour people. If you have a book room go in there and ask, after talking to your rep.

Just mention it to your manager. He will sort you the overtime and confirm what your contract is. Takes 2 mins!

It wouldn't be overtime though, if he/she is being rostered for 5 six hour days then they should be on a 30hour contract, but yeah you can talk to them just don't assume that you are being told the truth!

I guess that you are probably not in the union? but ask one of the oldest looking postmen in the office, they would most likely be in the union and will tell you who the rep is, or ask the manager who the rep is, that might be enough to get the manager to do his job properly.
On your payslip are you being payed overtime (6 hours ) for working the extra day?
