Can you be forced to start on street?

To free up some vans for 'bulk' parcels this year, managers are pushing to temporarily make some duties HCT. These will be staffed by Ptimers who start later, and have to make their own way to the delivery start point where the fully loaded HCT will be dropped off. Ignoring the fact the HCT won't fit all the parcels, nor all the other impracticalities in their plan, is there any rule to insist you start and finish at your office? Or a radius from the office where a HCT can't exceed? We have no Rep, and I fear a Ptimer will get the blame when the failures start mounting.

as for htc's, they could if they wanted to have you pushing it an hour to the start, then an hour back
this xmas is looking like the worst ever for qos and it seems like head office aren't too bothered either

Is there anything in writing that states you start your day from the office and not some random delivery point though? You are right QoS will be shocking this year, and I fear managers will try pin the blame on posties for the ridiculous revisions they've pushed through.

The original guidelines for HCTs were for the trollies only to be used within 1 mile of the office.
1 mile being a 15 minute walk.

What about if RM end up suspending van sharing? if they ever did that in response to Omicron you'd have just 2 choices:

* Start out in the street
* Start latter (you'd have to wait for a van to get back to the DO)

you cant be forced to anything and contact your h&s rep and ask where you go to toilet and where you take your meal break ? as tall hcts are suppose to be risk , but you are entitled to return to the office for these by the way so less to deliver , just work your hours and take it back . ask bullinger if he can put his tea and biscuits down from the ceos table what he thinks of the way staff are being treated due to a dog s**t revisions and trying to them trying to save money . fair and manageable workload , culture my arse , im sorry if ive gone off a bit but the cwu and rm are a joke and i think staff have had enough.

They would allow people to use their cars again like last time.
It won't happen this side of Christmas. It would turn a shambles into a total and utter shambles within a day

How would you get to your first delivery point?

Motor insurance only covers you to your fixed workplace.
In the past,to travel in your own vehicle ,RM covered you third party and gave you expenses.
But if you are unwilling, management would not be able to enforce it.

They could ask you to use public transport - but that increases your chances of catching Covid ,so you can refuse that straight away.


Walking is the only option they can enforce ,but there are Health and Safety parameters on how far you should be using the HCT.
Pushing a HCT fully loaded is no fun.

Would also ask to see the risk assessment for loading/unloading and securing a full HTC in a van.

As a reserve, considering some of the idiots I van share with I would happily take an HCT duty and work alone.

How are they getting a fully laden HCT in and out of a van without a tail lift?
