Which DO are going to loose night shifts with in next few weeks ?

NOT losing your night shifts .. will be the exception .. not the rule! It is Royal Mail's aim to remove night-shifts from delivery officers by 31st March - plan to be agreed by 31st January. This is part of the deal that paid Â£175 lump sum & 5.4% pay rise. It is part of 'Phase 1' .. 'Immediate Operational Changes' .. page 5 of the final agreement .. signed up to by 64% of the voters! Not my unit incidentally. We also have the dubious honour .. of being a Stage 3 'Trialling Unit'!

Bit confused cos night shifts went in my office 2 years ago under the way forward. 19 jobs lapsed savings given to 125 remaining staff.
Grand total weekly increase = 62p. Time on inward sorting = + 45 mins per day. So extra hour s work for circa 90p!

Agrement also says that in a large DO units which have lot of bulk deliveries + being a city centre office, will carry some night staff... perhaps reduced staff than present to accomodate mail flow from neighbouring MC during night from 11pm on wards.

We run two walk sequencing machines and have been told that all 5 (!!) of us will stay on nights for the forseeable future

not wishing to put you on a downer but ,do you have a hard and fast definition of foreseeable, cos it could vary and some peoples foresight is quite limited

The latest news we have is that the two machines we currently have are trial machines and are going to be scrapped and replaced with 3 updated versions.We will then sequence our own mail and mail for all the sub offices in our area. If this is true the machines will have to be run through the night.

However seeing as though our "managers" couldn't run a p**s up in a brewery no-one is holding their breath

Roughly 120

We also sort mail for 14 sub offices

Indoors we have 5 machine operators and we bag tip and sort packets when we're not on the machine and 2 ex PHG's who sort the 1st class press-stream stuff for the sub offices and work in the registered locker.

We also have 8 lorry jobs to ferry mail from Bristol Mail centre to us and the subs.

Might be a bit off plan here, but have you noticed each time there is a new agreement the delivery offices end up with the short end of the stick?

Night dutys went from our office last year. Savings massive!! Increase in our pay packets absoluetly f**k all.

How many night duties were there ? How far are you from your local MC? Did you used to receive mail from MC once or twice during the night?
