Service Impact 18/11/2021 - In Flight - What has happened?

Post by POSTMAN »

The Inflight reports used by Operations to manage processes for handling Inflight requests are not being populating correctly.

Why has it happened?
This is currently being investigated.

What is the impact to the Business?
Inflight reports including “Inflight Request Compliance”, and “Inflight Activity List”, are not being populated with the correct data. Operators in Delivery units are not able to manage Inflight requests to ensure Parcels are being handled correctly.

What is being done to resolve?
A bridge call is currently underway to investigate the issue.

When is the next update scheduled?
The next update will be at 11:30am.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Sorry, been busy, here is the latest.

Service Impact 18/11/2021 - In Flight - What has happened?

Update 3 - 15:30
Investigations have identified two issues which have resulted in the Inflight reports not being populated as follows:
A large number of customer notifications, which provide the predicated day and time of delivery, are not being populated with the estimated times of delivery, this data is what prompts customers to request Inflight redeliveries, including SafePlace and Delivery to Neighbour. The root cause of this issue is a reference data error and a fix is being planned to correct this file which is expected to allow the predicted day and time of delivery to be displayed in the customer notifications.
A second issue has also been identified whereby the Inflight event data is not being correctly loaded into the Inflight reports. This issue is still being investigated.
The next update will be at 17:30 or sooner if there is any significant progress.

Update 2 - 13:30
Investigations into the cause of the issue are ongoing and are focussing on two areas. There has been a reduction in the number of Inflight requests for Safeplace and Deliver to Neighbour via the Royal Mail website, and in addition, the number of Inflight events being processed into the Operational reports are significantly lower than expected volumes.
The next update will be at 15:30 or sooner if there is any significant progress.

Update 1 - 11:30am
Investigations into the cause of the issue are ongoing. Checks are being performed by the various teams to try and establish why the data is not populating the reports as expected.
