Anything that makes it easier to use is good. Can we get them to work on the swipe to unlock now please. The other day in heavy rain I had to swipe around 10 times (I kid you not) at one point, trying to get the damn thing to unlock. That would help a LOT more.

I sense we've all faced that in the rain, then it becomes a total nightmare if you have to leave the parcel in a safe place as the drop down box refuses to open. I can't see the PDA's were tested in the rain, if they were then somebody choose to ignore the issues.

Have to agree with yourself and others, in that this model appears to be less responsive in the rain than the last one.

When we're using the traffic recording app, you have to scan the relevant container barcodes, then press submit, why doesn't it submit each one as it's scanned?

The camera often doesnt work, it freezes on the camera screen with a 'spinning red ring' icon indefinitely

If you press the screen off button, and then back on again, you lose the scanned item and have to scan and go through all the menus again.

I had it happen today with the newly introduced tracked "take a photo whilst door is half open" I waited about 30 seconds and the customer just shut the door. Tracked item disappeared from the screen

PDA is not fit for purpose.

Last week I took one out that, on scanning my first collection box, said
"Outdoor has encountered a problem and needs to close".
It then restarted itself, and wouldn't log me back in (I took photos of all barcodes on my phone and spent a good 35 minutes scanning everything from it back at the depot.)

If you'd had a chance to use the old PDA, you would soon notice the difference. I'm not sure how much of these problems are due to the device itself over the implementation of the software. I still feel we should have access to limited settings (swipe screen on/off, touch sensitivity). There could even be an option to save these settings, tied into your login. Or is that too advanced? Probably...

There's actually a team?
The whole setup of the software is so poor, it's unbelievably inefficient and amateurish, we're manually scanning in tracked as 'ready for delivery' 40, 50, 70, 90 parcels, from one set of yorks into another, then they all have to move from the second york to the van, then as you do that you may be scanning them into the RON mapping software.

The archaic software design creates an absurd waste of time compared to other couriers I've worked for. If they were serious about competing with the likes of Amazon they need a wake-up call.

All that stuff could be automated, including collections, even the order of loops to make sure specials are done on time (useful for newbies/floaters etc) with minimal input from the postie. You could simply pick up your PDA with a full inventory of the day's parcels, loops, collections etc, and a route planned and optimised in RON and it would advise you on a call by call basis, should you require it: -[local knowledge and experience is always going to beat software].

^ I know people may say it's going to take peoples jobs but they've been trying to automate processes for years now so it's nothing new & futile to complain about it imo.

That's only started to occur in the last couple of weeks, I wonder if it's related to the new "capture at door" or another issue'? If you just cancel the photo you can normally just retake it. The real fun will start when that happens when it's raining!!

The old old PDAs (Intermec CN3)? I miss having real buttons. Instead of five minutes trying to input a name/barcode/login with the on-screen keyboard in the rain, you could punch it in with the real keyboard. Assuming the battery wasn't completely dead by the second loop.

Most likely there's some bugs in the updated software
