As always do everything by their book.
Work at a steady pace - oops was that letter 5 ago a missort I had better double check!
Take breaks.
Bring back everything that can't be done in time.

Re: performance and prep rates
Is the prep rates test adjustable to the frame being tested? we have some double frames with wings which are about 12ft long and other standard frames about half the size or less.

Re: performance and prep rates
Wasnt the one minute test for IPS? Not sure what the point of a prep test would be,many duties/frames are different from one another, single slots , double slots, letters flats small packets all going in, how can you have an across the board prep rate with that in mind? Ooh I forgot the 6 or 7 d2ds...

Re: performance and prep rates
Well yeah I get the trying to intimidate, been tried many times over my 35years as the managers changed, always thought it was an odd way to manage. For those who are intimidated it must be awful and probably makes their work worse due to the worry . I've seen managers watch people including myself prep a walk from start to finish many times ,though not in the last few years, and very rarely had feedback, one way or tother.tomtallis wrote: ↑10 Nov 2021, 19:01The point of a prep test is to try and intimidate you. Not that they can do anything if you fail except coach you and I'd like to see the exercise in futility that would be. It's piss easy when done how it's supposed to be but make sure the rep is up to speed on prep tests so they can stop any Cnuts tricks by the screws

Re: performance and prep rates
I once moaned about something at a work place meeting , so the manager stood behind me all day whilst i boxed in d t ds mail and packets , redirections and tied up . Felt awful , even now theres no support in the office its mostly a look after myself culture , which is quite sad.

Re: performance and prep rates
i'll throw a curve ball in here, so i may need a crash helmet but this is standard in my d/o so not in general
we have several guys who don't know and refuse to learn the general sorting of mail, including scanning tracked in
therefore our line manager allows them to prep just 1 duty whereas others must prep 2 duties, and quite honestly are usually still quicker at doing 2 to their 1
if they are top side they are maybe asked to do general work, i.e putting large items out but still keeping their pigeon holes and trollies empty along the way
the management have created a every man for themselves culture, teamwork is virtually non existent at my d/o

Nipped in the office to sign for some o/t on Wednesday, on his desk he had a printed sheet with skills matrix across the top, with a list of all our posties names & across the top all the walks in the office & ticks & crosses of all the walks we know?

It is called a skills register.
One of the things a manger needs to do is put the right people in the right place at the right time.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
