FEET.......Ouch
Hello, I’m into my 3rd week in the job and am enjoying it. The only problem is my feet. They are so painful during the day. I’ve picked up a few blisters and I think my little toe may have an infection in it as that is swollen and very sore.
How long should it be until my feet turn the corner?
I have tried about 3 different footwear up to now and have the RM issued black flat shoes that don’t help much.
Any advice will be greatly received. Cheers.

Re: FEET…….. Ouch
A few years ago I started wearing two pairs of socks, thin one next to my foot and a thicker one outside it. Add in 2 or even 3 insoles, depending on what will fit, and I have managed to avoid blisters fairly well. Multiple insoles provide more cushioning, the downside is that they raise my foot in the shoe and that emphasizes how poor the ankle support is.

If you are wearing RM issue shoes I'm afraid it's not going to get any better, I believe It's the RM shoes are why most new starters quit, not fit for purpose

Re: FEET…….. Ouch
I started off wearing some soft black cheap Adidas trainers and still revert to them if my feet play up.
If you're getting blisters then it's because your shoes don't fit correctly, so you need to resolve that issue or you'll just keep getting blisters, the blister plasters are worth the expense in the meantime.

Good walking socks help, if you can afford them (you'll go through them quickly).
Regatta coolmax are reaaly good.

I use RM issue shoes and have never had a blister. I`d go along with the 2 socks approach. Customise your shoes (insoles etc) so that they fit snugly, and do them up as tightly as possible so that they can`t rub. Happy walking!!

This is my advice, it's practically set in stone round my way...
30yr + : Slippers.
20-29yrs : Hush puppies.
10-19yrs : Reebok classics preferably white.
5-9yrs : Official RM shoes/boots.
2-4yrs : Whatever you can get your hands on/afford.
0-1yr : What you wore at your interview.

Get a pair of the Magnum Banderas. They're like walking shoes. The Easyflex are too narrow for normal feet

What socks do you wear?Cazlew wrote: ↑28 Oct 2021, 20:56I had some horrific blisters wearing 3 different pairs of RM shoes. I couldn't wear them for more than a couple of hours before i was in agony, I then spent nearly £600 on 4 different pairs of top quality walking shoes. Merrel, berghaus, salomen and meindl. I wore each pair for approximately a month and sent them all back. They all gave me blisters in varying positions. I by chance bought some expensive socks that were going cheap from damaged packet. The difference was night and day. I then got some RM flex shoes (no toe caps) and together with my new socks I have next to no problems.
So for me the socks are more important. Less sweaty feet to blister. Anything with cotton in is no good.

Re: FEET.......Ouch
OK it's hard to explain but I wear socks that have an inside part that covers your feet from anke to just before the toes think they were advertised as anti blister socks.but go for hiking socks because that basically what we do everyday.
