WORKPLACE
We are continuing to receive complaints from customers regarding the condition of the trays they receive from us. All too often these trays contain rubbish when they leave our premise – sweet wrappers, drink cans , water bottles, uneaten food etc, even, on occasions, broken glass. On occasions we have even had reports of urine and faeces being found in trays. Also, very concerning is the fact that some trays are found to contain used PPE in the form of gloves and masks. Understandably, our customers are very worried about the health and safety implications of having to handle PPE.
In order that Royal Mail colleagues and customers are not put at risk it is vital that everybody plays their part in ensuring that the trays which circulate through our own network and also form part of the supply we give to our customers are safe, empty and hygienic. They must not be used for the disposal or storage of food, rubbish or PPE. Specific bins are provided at every Royal Mail site for the safe disposal of PPE and these are the onlycontainers in which gloves, masks and tissues should be placed.
Before trays leave Delivery Offices care must be taken to ensure they are empty, all labels must be removed and they should be stacked upside down, checking before they are stacked that there is nothing in any of them (do not invert whole stacks). Mail Centres should be carrying out regular checks and challenging non-compliance where it is found.
The problem of dirty and unsafe trays is an issue for all of us as it causes damage to our brand and reputation as well as being a potential health and safety risk for customers and colleagues alike. Examples of trays that we have given to our customers in an unacceptable condition can be seen below...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Once again we all get the blame, rather than a competent manager deal with the individuals.

No excuse for this tbf. It's just poor practise by certain postie's, and bad habits of not caring.
But the bad attitude is rampant within RM, and it's not going anywhere sadly. Simon's approach isn't helping.
Personally i keep all my work areas clean, and pick up bands off the floor. But my work practice is poor due to not having enough time, for example, cutting off or not scanning parcels.

If looked around our yard tomorrow morning I bet there would be over 250/300 trays & 9/10 yorks that’s been left out in the elements for weeks, they all look like that tray in the 1st picture.

Same here. I can’t stand mess, when I get a van the first thing I do is drag a bin to it and empty all the crap out of the van.WASD wrote: ↑07 Oct 2021, 16:37No excuse for this tbf. It's just poor practise by certain postie's, and bad habits of not caring.

I wish people were held accountable - leave rubbish in the van on a consistent basis, seen on cctv dumping trays/York’s in the yard, leaving your used mask on the frame or on the dashboard, should all be punished.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.
