Royal Mail - Poor Quality : Good Morning Britain

Post by CharlesG »

This from Simon on Workplace ———————

Team - heads up - we have heard that Good Morning Britain are likely to run a special programme on poor quality at Royal Mail - we believe it will be on Monday - focus likely on letters - we do appear to have a number of people that are trying to trip us up over the last couple of weeks - we don't know why, and I don't suppose it matters why - I am letting you know in advance ……

—————————————

Believe this may have something to do with a Postman talking to journalist about the daily failures in there office, the focus from managers on parcels and Postman telling journalist there is work in office from two weeks ago.
Could be interesting

or in other words THE TRUTH!
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

Yes ..
Thou shalt not say the truth about Royal Mail. Its in the handbook.

In truth the failures are quite shocking in our office and from others according to this site. Im surprised its taken this long to be honest.
The amount of letters and 2D parcels being failed daily is quite shocking, there is only so much you can hide under the carpet.
Id expect RM to say its a one off, or its because of covid.

For most of this year the company slogan in our office has been "Prioritorise Premium Products, Fail Mail".

Leave your frame full of letters , cards, appointment letters, etc , as. longs we got a corrupt revision through . Every day walks failing , ashamed and embarrased to have to be part of this. Where is Terry and June ? Should be gate meetings all over the country . Lets hear you terry , your still taking our money every week my friend.

Did the CEO genuinely think that consistently not delivering letters and ignoring the USO was a viable longterm plan?

Or is he simply unaware of the sheer level of failures?

Far from trying to "trip you up". Posties are fed up with the driving down of the service. It's clear that managers are under pressure to meet savings targets, most offices are understaffed, vacancies haven't been filled. During Covid they got used to failing loads of mail, and concentrated on trackable products. This has continued unabated, infact it's gotten worse, at a time when we should be returning to normal, post covid.

Simon talks about trust on the doorstep and quality of service. That's what we care about too, not profits and greed, but under these circumstances, we simply don't have the capacity to provide it. And raising these issues with the employer, falls on deaf ears... what do you expect is going to happen in these circumstances...

Simon remember you rely on the workforces goodwill through christmas pressure to get through this mad period . Your workforce are p,,,,, off, worn out mentally and physically , and angry how you have conned us with these barbaric joke revisions . Will the staff go the extra mile now ?

And in his letter, he said there would be less temps this year, and plenty of Overtime (for those who want it)...

Anyone?

The truth isn't allowed in royal fail. Managers tried conducting me for telling a business customer why their mail was failing or turning up massively late everyday.

I started about 6:25 ,finished at about 14:15 ,not having stopped all day , so will I give up more of my free time to work for a lower hourly rate of pay? *spoiler alert*, no I won’t. Oh and I cleared my frame but not the office , sorry about that! You know how it is , time pressures and all that.

He can only blame COVID for so long , the squeeze to constantly save hours has an impact on quality , that’s the truth but they don’t want to hear it .

Our office fails daily and has numerous rounds with a few days mail sitting round so I'm not sure how we can really challenge what they're saying.

We are understaffed.

Round failures in double figures for months in my DO. Sometimes they don't even ask for OT volunteers to work their day off to cover them because they take the attitude, "If we're failing 11 deliveries, we may as well fail 12 or 13 and keep the OT budget down".
