A few weeks ago a list of walks appeared that people could apply for. So I applied and got one. I started this Monday. Then on Tuesday (my 2nd day on the walk) the manager announced that some extra bits had been added (takes about half an hour). I am like wtf why didn't you tell me this before I signed for it as I would have gone for another walk if I had known.
Is this OK? Or not OK? And is there anything I can do about it?

The reality is if it takes you over your time you just leave it.
The chances of getting it removed I'd say are very slim.

Ta. Yeah I tell my manager every day we won't get time so (after an argument) I have left it and day after I take it and leave another bit on my frame. We have still been going an hour or two over most days. They have done a mini revision at our DO where they have got rid of some walks and added bits of them to other ones. Some people have got shafted whilst others have got off easy. Typical royal mail back of a fag packet revision where the worst of it gets dumped on the newbies after the others have complained.

Put in a grievance stating that the extra workload was not part of the duty you signed for and was never mentioned

My guess is that the DOM has been ordered by his boss to take a load of hours out of the office. Yes quite a few walks regularly finish early. But this could be down to people coming in early. I am a part timer who comes in on my time so I miss the early morning shenanigans.
Things have got better now as I have been paired up with a full timer who has been there a lot longer than me and so we now only do the mail if we have time.
