I see that Royal Mail and the CWU have got together to try and tackle work related stress. I’m curious to know how exactly they plan to do this. Majority of the work related stress seems to be caused by bad management, the obvious solution would be to monitor how delivery office managers behave and run their office and maybe even retrain them. There’s more to management than hitting targets and ticking boxes. Bad management must be costing Royal Mail a vast amount of money in sickness absence every year and I imagine it’ll only get worse.
There’s no point throwing money at dealing with stress related health if you’re not going to deal with the cause of it first.
Why are there not more options for staff to raise issues at work with incompetent managers who are not behaving correctly or doing their job properly.

I think they're trying to implement some or all of what you're referring to ninja. We have the new Chief People Officer Zareena Brown who's intending to address these issues, I hope! I think, also, that's why they're wanting Posties to join Workplace - so they can air their views. Simon has also said, more than once, in some of the videos how he would like people to tell him what's going on.

Tick the box exercise i'm afraid. As a local rep, i've never felt so stressed. Piss poor management is around fifty percent of the problem, the other fifty being staff members who think the world owes them something. Ingrained culture that can never change...

If you promote a crap postman you will get a crap manager and they get promoted to a crap senior manager, its a vicious circle I'm afraid. I have done nearly 42 years and at my office it is the the most incompetent, useless, lazy, bullying, know nothing management team I have ever come across. They cause all the issues in our office maybe Super Simon!!!!! Know better on his Super Portals and Super Workplace page. Super Useless. So glad I'm at the tail end of my time at RM but feel for the many younger staff that will have to endure the crap coming their way from this sack of S**t. Super Simon Wake Up as crap management cause most of the Mental Heath Issues within our once great service.

Stop getting stressed rushing around trying to get it all done and start not giving a s**t - start time, break, finish time, cut off and bring back what you can’t do. This job isn’t complicated and shouldn’t be stressful.
