RMCtv : Revisions update : Maybe some of them aren't as perfect as they should be.
At great expense I can now extract the text so you can now read what is said, you lucky people!
Excuse the grammer.
the next question is again coming through on workplace, so richard sutton has asked simon. how do you believe the revisions have gone so far now you. commented on this um a bit recently. but what's what's your view, simon.
yeah, so richard. i think, so let's, where do i start on that one? you're right Jenny, i've commented on this point, a lot happening.
richard, we set out to do twelve hundred and eighty six revisions this year. it's like crazy, isn't that i think we did eight last year. i think a previous ever best was a hundred and thirty four. thirty six or something something like that.
so the first thing i'd say is that the ambition was incredibly high, and i think the fact that we've done, we've done eight to nine hundred stuff or something like that, that might be slightly wrong uh charles. if you're out there, you can you put the actual number uh underneath. so everyone's a totally clear on where we are i think that we've done eight to nine hundred or something like that, so what i would say is that i think we've actually done really well on getting done what it is that we had to get done
now the other side of it is on structural revisions, which was four hundred of the twelve hundred and eighty six is we weren't going fast enough. i think we done.
thirty, thirty nine or so in the first twelve weeks, now. of course, we now have to put a huge amount of resourse in i think four hundred more people to make sure we hit the deadline at the end of october.
now the other thing as well as soon as you start pushing hard like that and you start to pick up the pace. it means that sometimes things don't always go as well as they should go, so i think in some places, and i get quite a lot of you know, i get a lot of feedback from the front line when it goes wrong and actually recently.
i've had a fair bit of feedback saying, maybe we haven't done them as perfectly as we should have done them. so thanks to rob, and thanks to steve, who are really helping me out on this as soon as we hear that it hasn't gone so well. we are straight in to figure out how we how we make sure it does go well.
i think the overall from my side is it was a huge ambition, i think against that ambition. actually, we've done extremely well. we've done more than we've ever done before. i think the structural revisions have been more challenging than the table tops, probably for obvious reasons.
we had to put an awful lot of extra resource into the structural revisions to make sure we hit our deadline, so we can say to the market that we have actually met our promises. and that is so, so, so, so important.
and but i am very conscious that because of the speed. maybe some of them aren't as perfect as they should be. so we have to jump on that really quickly, and of course. we are putting some pretty big change in before peak which also carries some risk.
so you know, team, i think our situation is probably not where we'd all want to be
we need to get this done because we need to show the market, we can deliver our agreements, and we can deliver our promises and realize these benefits that is so critically important, but i do recognize at the moments that the pressure that we put into the. you know. into our company to get this done at the moment is probably not worried about wanted to do.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It's a ********* shambles at our place, been done, thrown out and replaced with a new version, that has now been thrown out by the old guard on their piss easy walks cos they would have had to work close to their time. New version EVERYONE gets the same amount extra even the ones that were due to be reduced because they're too big. Xmas fun coming up.

These ppl at the top are so removed from reality its astonishing ! The pressure you are putting on the workforce is shocking , lucky if you have any staff not on the sick with stress by then .

He should tell us more what was created from the table top revisions.
What was gained
What changed
Was it just a paper exercise to tick a box to get another off the list

Those offices that have had major revisions rushed through only to learn of many others getting *postponed* until Julember 2030 have been royally stuffed here.

So he is basically saying that it doesnt matter how the revisions work out really, as long as theyre all done in time so he can tell the market.
Its just such nonsense isnt it? But i suppose this is how the world works.

This statement is all about the shareholders and market competition. He does not realise or maybe he does that this can lead to Royal mail losing the business and major interruption of the service during our busiest period. This can have a long lasting consequences. Obviously it will be frontline workers who will be hit the hardest. Unless he just want to announce to the world we change and are on track with our progression and as soon as the shareholders took the bait and shares jumped up a bit we can all forget this mess and go back to what it was before. I am afraid not this time.

They should have had table top revisions almost completely across the board, put all of the planning resources into maybe 50 structural revisions and focused on getting those right before rolling out the rest of the structural revisions en masse in spring 2022.
That would have kept the shareholders happy and avoided the chaos we're seeing now going into the busiest period.
Whoever decided to go down this half assed route should be removed from making any more important decisions, a five minute conversation with anyone who was here in 2010 would have told them this was folly. The militant loonies on here certainly warned both parties.
The union in enabling this mess should be embarrassed to the core.
A question for Simon, why are your delivery office managers who should know their offices better than anyone allowing these flawed revisions to be implemented?
Is it undue pressure from their superiors or sheer incompetence? , it really has to be one or the other Simon.

In our realignment/scan in out, most favouritism and nepotism was killed off. Previously people were going home 30, 45 and 60 mins early for years. As usual some do not have to follow their new duty and so to cover them with casuals while they relax with manager friend, or go home for bit, play on phone will cost Royal Mail £60,000 per year for the three of them. Mind you the manager can't be arsed to stick around himself. Again he's going sick and driving his taxi round whilst being paid by Royal Mail's insurers. Why does the most dishonest person in the group have to be the manager.
