so one of the thing just before we go to questions. i just wanted to to say something to our managers about holding weekly face to face sessions with our teams.
you know, it's great having workplace, and you know it's great having workplace live, you know, and i'm very. very happy to to speak to everyone about what's happening on a national level.

but the truth is what the team really want to know is what's happening at a local level, and they want to understand what's happening to them and how it is that they can help.
but i'm getting lots and lots of comments on this particular point.

now look, i know some managers and actually probably the vast majority managers are already really good at sharing information, but we do need to make sure it's done consistently. so.what ive asked jenny in the operations team to do is that from next week.we are expecting all managers to hold dedicated sessions with their teams at least once a week, you know. to talk through local performance as well as any other key issues for the team.

now i know social discussing guidelines are different in different parts of the country, so we'll have to figure out how we do that, maybe hold them outside. you know weather permitting
uh, but we we will be building up to a full reintroduction of, you know. the work time listening and learning sessions. there might be a slightly different format to get going.

and but it is really important that we're all talking to our teams on a regular basis, so they understand how we can win. sorry, how we can win, and and i think my key point is, we need to listen really hard to what they're saying and make sure that we act on that feedback. so in order to get out there, look out for more detail on how we're going to work in the coming days.

FFS - if anything positive has come out of the last eighteen months, its that the pointless WTLL has been binned.

It has probably escaped the CEO's notice but while he appears to have endless time sending out various video waffles to his "people" - some of us don't have a spare second, let alone 10-15 minutes to hear more propaganda/patronising crap. And with social distancing still being in force, how the f**k will it happen anyway???? (note, I haven't watched the video, so don't know is Super Si has a master plan to get round that).

My managers certainly can't communicate, WTL sessions won't change this. However it will be entertaining when they get shot down (rightly so) by the workforce they're supposed to be leading. My office's problem is the managers, we have the staff, and the majority used to work hard with loads of overtime being done, but just no one is interested anymore. Want a favour? No chance. But they expect you bend over backwards for them. I bet my managers are dreading this

Years ago there was a rumour that the reason it was called Work Time Learning is that it was funded by the government! Hence the name learning not “team meeting” not sure how true this is. Either way they owe us for 18 months of half an hours free work.

I’ve noticed for a while with Royal Mail they use unnecessary terms; it’s ridiculous when you look at it:

Training/team meeting not work time learning

Break not meal relief

Overtime not pressure, not scheduled attendance

Scanning not consolidating

Postman....why the need for OPG, SPG, BFG?!


Anyway can’t chat, just having my customary visual interaction period (watching TV) before I have my evening sustenance relief phase (tea) then I’ll be having my rapid eye movement duration (sleep).
