Part time Contracts: Are they all that.....

As the eve of the SWW is open us, and the periodic confusion about why PTers are getting a payrise and not FTers, I wanted to ask.
Can RM forcibly reduce PT contracts to proportionally reflect the reduction in hours from the SWW, that the FTers are subjected to/ benefitting from?

(I'm aware this has not happened in previous reductions).

Part time staff generally don't do much of the indoor sorting therefore I can see no reason for them to have their contracted hours forcibly reduced.

If they did, it would have to be like the FT decrease, without a loss of pay

Its not about PTers getting a pay increase while the FT dont -its about the hourly rate going up for everyone ( FT doing one less hour whilst keeping the same pay as 38 )

Less indoor work, we have IPS stuff coming out of our ears since the mail centre did their revision. Its dumped in the bottom of sleeves and anywhere else I look when it comes in. I’m sure they have saved afew of their hours though.

I guess my question relates more to those PTers who work 2, 3 or 4 day duties on what would be full time hours on those days, so 16 hours (2 day), 23.5 - 25hours (for 3 day) and 30 -32 hours (4 day) plenty of those structures at our place. Some of these are legacy contracts relating to when 40hrs was the contracted Full time duty,

I guess they can make you work less hours per day, but spread over more days, or add collections to day/week. But I would imagine most DOM's would just let the difference be for now, I guess the part-time start finish time could remain the same even though the route they cover has been reduced.

Would that coincide with the Network/Logistics resign and revision? It might be like us that they now get more of their work in later so less time to process it before the final dispatch. I can see final dispatch times being made probably an hour later within the next 12 months

Part timers/less than full timers are the ones benefiting. Full timers workload getting squeezed every year and nothing coming off. Our IPS takes roughly 50 minutes a day then we prep our own frames. A less than full timer, on a 35 hour contract, 24 minutes a day less (14 minutes a day less if you include the 30 min and 40 min meal relief entitlement) and do no IPS whatsoever!! Full timers are the ones getting shafted. (in my office at least)

Funny you don't get the full timers starting posts about how unfair it is that they take home a larger pay-packet at the end of the week, or how they have longer breaks, or how they get no % deduction on any bonuses, or they got more shares,or that half of them finish the same time as some part-timers
