WORKPLACE:
There have been a number of queries about plans to train our staff to drive HGVs (7.5t and above).
Discussions are currently underway between the National Distribution Director, CWU and HR to design training plans for the next year considering the use of the Government Apprenticeship schemes and internal Royal Mail training opportunities.
This is very important given the current difficulties with HGV driver availability across the UK . Once this has been concluded we will look to share the opportunities with all our Royal Mail colleagues so please look out for updates in Workplace and other RM communication channels.

HGV training with Royal Mail? : Queries about plans to train our staff to drive HGVs
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

There was a LTB sent out today. Sounds like they are seriously worried about having enough drivers this Xmas to move the parcels around. I know historically RM have been one of the highest paying LGV jobs about but speaking to a couple of mates last weekend who do agency work they are not anymore and are quickly getting over taken by the supermarkets.

NDC has already got agency drivers housed in the nearby hotel, paying accommodation, three meals a day and a £5,000 bonus at the end.
