WORKPLACE! : Simon Thompsons post on there about us.

Post by POSTMAN »

Ok, Workplace. Done a new thread so this doesn't get lost, may have to update it in a bit.

See below for how they push it on MRM.
https://www.myroyalmail.com/latest-news

They have been pushing this for months, it's where I get all my videos from, it's a Facebook thing.
It's a massive Facebook group within multiple groups.
It's been a managers thing for a couple of years and now the meanials are now allowed on.

The business has now stopped updating the myroyalmail app if you downloaded that and Workplace (in your own time I might add) is the place to now go for all important business updates.
Remember the business wants WTLL to soon be 15 mins. While most of you hated that, it's not a good thing.

So Workplace, Personally I think it's a mixed bag.

On one side the comedy gold for my videos, is well comedy gold. search on here for RMCtv
Royal Mail CEO Simon Thompson has regular Q&A's every week, but if you are not on Workplace, or on HERE (RMC) you kinda won't know about them as most questions and answers.... are not on their mainstream channels.

There can be some good info, and some comedic (my personal thoughts).
There are on there what I would call (personally) brown nosers, and there are some who do ask very good questions.

Some managers have tried to stop their staff from posting on there, and some questions I have seen are very worrying as their managers would see the question and it's usually why is the office/staffing/lapsing is so s**t.

Simon Thomspon has stared a thread on there about us, I will try to summarise it.
Team - (he calls us team constantly, personally it's annoying)I am a great believer in sharing all views - here are some from www.royalmailchat.co.uk - on my letter asking us to work as a team - to be brilliant for customers this year - so we can grow our business…..
What is your view?
It has turned out I think to be the biggest ever thread on there, and I feel it shows at times that Simon does not 100% know how the business works, especially with recruitment and peeps leaving after 5 minutes.

He does contribute by posting and answering questions which I would think in this day and age is unheard of.
Again my personal thoughts are he's worried about the Octobers market and share price, understandably, baring in mind the type of business we are now.
But as per one of my RMCtv videos, he did say, if you're worried, stressed etc about revisions, phone a helpline.
Search RMCtv.

He's a double edge sword I would personally say, but I am very interested in talking to him, is he a silent assassin in a V-neck sweater or the school headmaster in a V-neck sweater wanting his pupils to do the best they can, either way, I will contact him with my phone number, we will see where that goes.

No Cane jokes please.

This whole post is my personal opinion and thoughts.
Register on there if you can and see how you feel for yourself.
Username/password was in one of your payslips a while back.

Excuse the state of this post lol, getting grief as I should be bathing the kids!

He has quoted some of you, I have to screenshot them because if you are not on Workplace, you wont be able to see them...
Workplace whalers can see the post here...

REMEMBER: All Royal Mail's info to staff will soon have to be learnt, gleaned, call it what you want in your own time on social media, where have we seen that before?

Clear the office, not just the frame
Don't you know, just who's to blame?
Trust at the doorstep, magical!
Trust in our leaders, mythical!
Does working harder bring you grief?
Take some 'instant pain relief'.
Scan at the door and not before,
We don't want complaints no more.
We must revise your dear old duty,
We change on pathways to new beauty.
The beauty is we coin it in.
The beauty is we win win win.
The beauty rises like a steeple.
That beauty's lost without your people!
Remind me of this...

It is interesting to see that Simon Thompson looks at this forum (wonder what his username is and if he has ever posted). I'm not sure if this forum has copyright over the block of posts that were lifted and whether permission was sought to do so.

Unlike Workplace, this forum is completely anonymous, unless people are daft enough to reveal details that can identify them. For that reason, when he visits this place he will probably see more comments about how things really are on the ground as people won't have the threat of anyone in their management chain holding those comments against them.

I hope that he finds RMC informative.

Simon will get a more ‘balanced’ response here rather than on his Workplace forum, which i agree is made up mostly of brown nosers.
He has cancelled his usual Thursday Q&A and will be giving more information on Wednesday regarding “THE letter” and steps he is taking to remedy staff’s concerns, the main one appearing to be recruitment. You might get a shout out @Postman
If he does ring surely you should say “Sorry boss .. i can’t really talk right now as im clearing the office”

Oooooo I'm on there :wave

I stand by every word that I have posted, Having spoken to Simon directly and told him how things are, it is obvious from the letter that he has no interest in how things are - just how advisors tell him they are and how they say things should be.

Simon, the company is rotting and rotten from the top downwards. Your letter was demoralizing to the workforce, but it appears you didn't even know (or care) how demoralized they already were.

That old poem thread is great. As is SSDD's. This kind of thing makes me smile, as while we're bunch of (justified) moaners, it shows we still have some character about us despite how worthless many managers try to make us feel.

Is "concerns", his words? If so i think he's choosing his words wrongly, which when typed isn't something you get wrong. Spoken word is much harder to be conscientious with. I'm just not sure if many of us are concerned, as i think that would imply something is going to change. This company keeps talking about changes but nothing ever changes. I think he'd be better off just being transparent and honest, BSing your way through by pretending to be honest and transparent doesn't get anyone anywhere as toxicity is fully engrained into RM, and the past 18months has reinforced this. When even the Union are getting flack, it reinforces this point.

Simon just needs to admit he has little wiggle room with the directors, union and ofcom making life difficult. Ironic really, shareholders want returns but pressing harder just won't get them a return that they want.
