Need advice

Signed off work by doctor for 3 months have contacted work every monday as told but manager does not pick up his phone and i leave a message now i received a letter saying my wages will be stopped because i have not contacted them weekly as agreed
The letter States they have been round my house and have tried ringing me but I have not left the house since being off sick no one has called no one has knocked on my door
Other members of staff have told me they did not have to do this when they were on long-term sick
Can anybody give me some advice before i go stir crazy

Contact your branch and get the area delivery rep involved. If you contacted them by mobile do not delete your history it will show your attempts to contact them. If you did it by landline hopefully your statements will list the calls, if not see if your provider can provide you with the information.

I would suggest for anyone wishing to "Leave Messages" for their DOM that they get hold of his e-mail address (they've all got one) and use that. You've then got a "Paper Trail" if there's any problems.

It's a lot more effective that leaving a message with the Bloke in the Locker Room .... or on his mobile (which is easily deleted in the event of an ass covering operation)!

The neurological condition I am presently off with has worsened because of a high up member of staff the same member of staff I have to ring tomorrow and I am literally sitting here shaking with the thought of having to do that

Don't over panic if you can.
Get your are rep to chew your managers arse off, if you have gone through the motions then it's bang out of order.
Later on if you are feeling well enough then you could put in a grievance about him.

He said they had been round to my house many times and i was out. And that when you're on sick leave you should not be out and you should be in constant contact with work
That's fine if you've got somebody else to do the shopping for you but I live on my own with no one to help not even the neighbours
I have contacted my union rep about this

U said in the op that u hadn’t been out at all since off sick and now you are saying u have been out. Just be truthful with them and say u need to go out for supplies, medication etc. It’s the lying that gets you caught out and not trusted

If you read it again you will see that it is the line manager saying that he came around to my house and I was out
I am not saying I was out
In fact I was in . Probably wearing my ear defenders because we are near an airport and with the planes flying over defenders reduce the noise of their engines but it also cuts out any other noise like doorbells hoovers washing machines television and the such like so if he did come round and he knocked I wouldn't have heard him

It meant that he knocked and could not get an answer so he presumed nobody was in in fact I was probably in with my ear defenders on because of the noise the planes make going over our house and that cuts out any other noise
But then it begs the question what right have management to come round checking up on you
when you're legitimately off sick

It’s not a crime Not to answer the door.
You could be asleep in bed or unable to answer the door in time.
Your Manager as no justification to stop your pay if like you have said you have remained in contact.

You are not housebound when on sick leave.
Put in a Grievance with HR and contact you Union Rep.

You've already mentioned that you live on your own, a manager will say they are enttiled to come round yours especially if he thinks you've not maintained contact, as he has a duty of care well that's what bullshit he will come out with.

Would it not be reasonable to expect a manager to put a note through the door while visiting, if unable to get an answer when they called round?

Can managers simply turn up unannounced at your doorstep?

You don’t have to explain yourself to anyone…

manager is bang out of order, get your rep involved and get him/her to agree a suitable contact method (email) and schedule of contact, if face to face is needed at 30 day intervals id insist a rep is present…personally I’d be letting the manager know via the rep that this extra STRESS is hampering and possibly going to extend my recovery period.

TBH I think he's trying it on, probably hasn't even attempted to visit you. WHY would an RM Manager "Refuse" to provide his e-mail address? This isn't MI5 FFS.

Manager's e-mail addresses are RM Property they're NOT private, they're designed for official communications, such as yours. I expect your DOM realises it'll leave a paper trail and he doesn't want one so he's Bullshitting you. As other members have mentioned get the Local CWU Office involved and let them deal with this idiot.

I think I would be asking what date and time did you come round.
Ask him what colour your front door is. What is my mat like.
He very probably can't answer this because he didn't actually come round.
And if he does answer, you'll probably note the twit was at the wrong door.
They're absolutely clueless.
