Tell me about safeguarding the mail?
Customer made a complaint about me leaving their mail in a public part of their building. This public area is actually their delivery point i.e. on the floor behind their letterbox. Manager says I could be dismissed for failure to safeguard the mail. True or BS?

If the door is open then it's their property that's insecure not the mail, having said that I always try to throw it behind the door in these situations, out of sight is out of mind.

Sounds a bit weird, needs more context.
Regarding safeguarding, if I can waltz up and take it then it's not safeguarded.
Clip around the ear you need, not a threat of the sack ffs if your record is clear or it's a 1st offence.

Letter box is in a wall to the side of the door. Mail was left inside the building on the floor under the letter box. Is that what you mean by context Postman? Do you have any links to the regulations regarding this and where my responsibilities end.
