sure i read it on here but can't find it
it was said that if driving the big hire vans you "should" get a weekly allowance, i asked union rep & a dom but they said no, this was ages back and thought it worth a punt asking on here as they both seemed vague and not interested,
i've been using a vw crafter 3500kg since jan, and in dec a merc sprinter which were eventually returned as not fit for our job

Re: driving allowance?
The old ldv crew bus used to get you around £5.60 a day circa 2009
Hope this helps

Re: driving allowance?
Any van with a plated weight of 3500kg or above attracts a driving allowance of £35.99 for full time, pro rata for less days. Tell your rep/manager to consult the latest pay rate chart, all of the allowances are there.

Re: driving allowance?
There is no such thing as pro-rata driving allowance. It's either the full amount or none.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: driving allowance?
anyone posties managed to claim an allowance who's been using a hire van regularly just during covid times?
i asked 2 doms, 1 said they no longer pay it, the other didn't bother checking it out, also asked 3 union reps and no response.
if so, what's the odds on it been backdated
