Scam texts
The scam text asking people to pay for redelivery of parcels goes on. I've been asked several times whether it's true (usually by pensioners). Could we not send out a flyer / D2D advising people about this? I know we're not the only courier involved but we should lead the way surely?

Re: Scam texts
When was the last time RM led the way in ANYTHING they do?
They play follow my leader, and always with a half arsed, ill thought out approach.
Had a few of these myself recently, you'd have to be pretty stupid to fall for it, especially after all the publicity there's been over it.
Although I do accept a pensioner or vulnerable person might.
Scum of the earth the perpetrators.

Re: Scam texts
I got one from "Hermes" and was about to pay the £1.99 until they wanted debit card security code.

Re: Scam texts
I emailed the CEO's office about this, and asked, would it not be a good idea for RM to put out a D2D'r explaining what our proper procedure is for collecting surcharges, and how to avoid falling for the text scams, and that we don't send out texts asking for money for surcharged items
about a week later I received back a generic email thanking me for my inquiry and that they were really sorry!

Re: Scam texts
Not sure what that has to do with what the original poster asked, scammers are ripping people off by pretending to be Royal Mail. Royal mail could send out a D2D'r explaining that we do not send out text messages to the public asking for payment for surcharged items! they could also include other stuff too like keep your dog in when the Postman knocks, our services e.g Re-directions, keepsafes, etc. Shock horror, they could even publicise the Royal Mail D2D'r service, after all Royal Mail make a huge song and dance about how great it is to send D2D'rs, what a effective tool it is to sell pizza's etc. Yet it is a service that Royal mail never use themselves to inform the public of our products and services

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Scam texts
It's good that they are doing that but as the OP said, it's mainly the elderly, less computer savy that are falling for the scam, the very people who are very unlikely to be searching on Royal Mails website on their Help page looking for examples of scams

Re: Scam texts
It's the way the scummy world works, there are scams everywhere with all the delivery companies involved.
As per some in this thread...
***Fake scam warning:Updated as and when.***
What is needed is a collective campaign from everyone including the government and various bodies getting involved, free or cheap tv/radio time for mass adverts ect.
