Revisions
For some strange reason I decided to read this month's courier magazine! Must have been really bored that day. Anyways I read that there's already been revisions in some offices.. a few questions to anyone who's already undergone a revision
1. How longs the deliverys?
2. Has every revision brought in packet deliveries? What hours and duty structure do the pack deliveries have.
3. Whats the overal duty structure look like in terms of start times ..duty length? Days worked?
I would really like to get an idea of what's in store in the future .
Cheers

Re: Revisions
Any revisions that have already been implemented will be light touch, table top jobs so there's unlikely to be much change other than to clean up loose ends.
I would take what the courier says with a huge pinch of salt because revisions are based on shared vans and that ain't happening so even if the works been done they won't or more accurately can't have implemented them fully.
From what I hear the structured revisions are already way behind schedule.

Re: Revisions
Good luck with the 2 in the van idea!. The walker will be waiting about 20 mins per loop ! As a driver I think I will possibly manage all the Packets and a few loops...can't wait for the royal mail to try and square this circle!

Re: Revisions
It will be different in every office depending on which duty pattern is agreed. As has been said above I have also heard the structural ones are way behind schedule. The way things are going they will be rolling out just in time for Xmas pressure.

Re: Revisions
Once the afternoon parcel deliveries take the bulk of the large parcels away that's unlikely to be a major issue.cheesetoastie wrote: ↑04 Jul 2021, 17:10Good luck with the 2 in the van idea!. Re: Revisions
Our revision went in but they have now thrown it out as there has been 1000 houses built in our area and want to redo the walks again and want an additional 120 hours taken out our small office of 25 walks
Like to know how this is going to happen

The issue that this will throw up how many hours on the street will we be on without the large packets?; I already cover 12-13 mile ..will I be doing 15-17 miles a day .. how is that humanly possible without impacting your legs knees and general health..

iirc it's 1 in 6 walks that get axed so if you add together the total mileage of the axed walks and then divide that total by the number of remaining walks, that'll give some sort of idea of how many extra miles each walk will be expected to do

Re: Revisions
Yes this new ceo comes over all nicey'he will be waving the stick' uncaring about us the heart and soul of the company. These revisions will vary greatly across the country ' those that get away with as small changes as possible will be probably still pushed to our limit of working to sweat and toil for the co. And those with the large changes will not work at all . The whole OP will fail : : watch this space . A worker can only do so much!

Re: Revisions
Ours has been forced through with assistance from a terrible rep.
'absorbed' 3 deliveries but gained 2 packet duties (8.30 start time)
All duties 4 hours 30 minutes long (they're not trust me), designed to make sure we never finish early but the 'favourites' will.
Still no saturdays off for reserves but duty holders get more saturdays off 1 in 5 ??FAIRNESS??
Part- timers and women being extremely well looked after (gonna get good duties)
Not so senior Full-timers get well and truly F*CK*D. (Some will end up as reserves, see above)
Absolutely nothing mentioned of indoor workplan, it will stay the same (GREATLY UNFAIR)
Fortunately i have a conscience and voted NO to the proposed revision and original agreement.

Re: Revisions
Our table top revision was bodged in. They said they would hire a few extra bods and take some off the rounds but they just did nothing and took the hour off us anyway. So to answer your questions;cheesetoastie wrote: ↑04 Jul 2021, 16:35For some strange reason I decided to read this month's courier magazine! Must have been really bored that day. 1. Rounds are the same length (and still far too big)
2. No packet deliveries
3. Start times generally later and finish times more or less the same apart from mondays is 40 min less
They’ve said they will still hire extra bods and take work off us but my gut feeling is this is the way it’ll stay. The mail will drop over summer, people will still come in early and go even faster to help management out like the mugs they are. Giving RM the ammunition to say we don’t need to make any changes.

Re: Revisions
What is wrong with these maniacs? Imagine going in to asda to start stacking shelves an hour before your start time, it’s complete insanity. It’s the biggest thing the union should be all over tackling.
