I had to go through OH when I joined. They recommended adjustments. Line manager told me they weren't informed by HR of any such stuff regarding multiple conditions. I had been working a different shift for quite some time and the managers there were aware of my condition from shifts with it going on, aware of and agreeable to the adjustments I needed, and all was well. So there is an information gap somewhere in the chain.
After speaking about that condition about a month ago, I was told a risk assessment would be done. Shouldn't this have been looked into when I started? I have not heard back since, have not been prompted about it, and have still struggled to raise a need for help as a result of this. I am in limbo therefore with no formal arrangement to benefit company and employee regarding adjustments and protection. I do not feel I could contact FFC without some consequence or other, or a leading response, I am scared to rock the boat in any way for a number of reasons, and it does not help that my shift manager has absolutely no understanding of the condition, and has openly responded by going along with some of the common myths/misconceptions about it without any desire to learn/research it/listen rather than tell. I feel that it is a manager's duty to pursue health and safety of employees proactively. My line manager has directly seen the effect it has on me during shifts, so it is far from just some phantom thing. This situation has made it harder for me to even raise my basic needs/requests with management on this shift which means I am at risk of becoming a danger to other employees and a liability to the DO which is unacceptable. (Notice how my language turns my exasperation at the DO inward on myself there.)
My previous employer and I had a very good setup for this so that I was able to work with adjustment and was then very able to go back to normal as soon as I felt well again, even mid-shifts, so I have a good idea how this is meant to be handled practically.
I would love some advice on how best to proceed. My intuition says this is red-flag level ignorance, because why should I have to ask someone multiple times to do what they are already aware needs to be done, and is a fundamental part of their job. I am just terrified to get into a situation where I am unable to get help, not to mention that this all feels like I am dead wood beyond my work. I also have no desire to go outside the company, and no appetite to go over anyone's head except as an absolute last resort.
Questions for anyone working/has worked in RM with disabilities requiring adjustments: Have you experienced similar, and is this sort of inactivity commonplace?
Question for those who have been on the management side in this situation: is this normal, reasonable, or is this an example of failed process?
Happy for all perspectives and advice as long as you can give me concrete yes/no answers to the questions. Otherwise I may struggle to interpret the meaning from what you say.

Are you a union member?
Your Branch should have someone who can help. It's why we pay our subs.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Slow/non-existent response to disability adjustments
By branch, they mean above the local reps, the full time-released reps. The officer you are looking for at both HQ and Local Branch is called the Equalities Officer.
HQ - its Kate Hudson
Head of Equality, Education & Development
Locally you'll need to find who your branch is then visit their page from: https://www.cwu.org/contact-us/

Maybe the response is best to be in union where you will get proper advice from people who are trained in providing the best help and advice. maybe no-one on here can can give answers you are looking for.

Simply put the answer is no we can't answer your questions. We are neither experts in this field, nor profess to be, and most people post here voluntarily so you will never get a complete and precise answer. If you are not in the Union, which I highly recommend joining, then your only other ports of call for an in-depth and personalised response, are an expensive Employment Lawyer/Solicitor or Citizens Advice.
