Panic attacks at home because of a big duty

Post by Dindin »

Do RM want people to have unhealthy lifestyles due to unachievable workloads? Do RM want people frightened to go in work. Does this new CEO give a rat's a**

thing is on one thread you say "times up go home" whilst on another you are on about having panic attacks thinking about an unachievable duty. So which is it for you? it is not always that simple to continually cut off. You can get singled out and its a daily stressful battle,in which your ability to do the job will be called in to question. They always bring up the office Linford Christie who does the round 2 hours quicker than you as well. Best thing to ask imo is to "come out and show me how its done" for while they know it may well be possible as a one off to complete it on an easy day, almost certainly they will also be unable to do it if they follow the RM rules.

Go see your GP
That is the best advice you can get.

I have been where you are, and probably will be again. I actually walked out one day, a colleague who had had panic attacks himself could see the way that I was heading and said I needed to get out. I signed out "sick" on the signing sheet and put the time I left. Went home and called the doctor and was signed off for a couple of weeks, went back and am just about keeping going until the next time.......

In our office I would say around 5% understood the state I was in, 45% just avoided/ignored things as I headed to a meltdown and around 50% didn't give a s**t because it didn't affect them but had a bloody good laugh about me with their mates (as is always the case in RM).

Neither the company or the union care about mental health, but it does make them sound good if they say they do  I remember TerryP's mouthy rant last year asking people who were heading for breaking point to contact him - nothing was ever said about the matter again.

I agree with what has been said already. Get yourself to the GP who will sign you off for a few weeks and more if required. Your health is priority. F*ck Royal Mail. It's not going to change, it is only going to get worse.

Stabilise and then use your time off to get another job. Any job.

I've been in your position, not at Royal Mail but elsewhere. In my experience you need to leave for your own health. You can try this and that but your situation is unlikely to change. Use your time off to plan your exit if you are in a state to be positive. If not your GP will support more time off I'm sure. The screws will come for you for sure. Stay strong. A lot of us have been there and have come out stronger.
