Bank Holiday Credits

Post by thomas1960 »

Hi everyone

Are we still entitled to a day in lieu if day off falls on a bank holiday?
I received a print out from manager for annual leave from 01/04/20 - 31/03/21 and when I asked him why I didn't receive days in lieu for 26th & 28th Dec 2020 (my scheduled days of) he informed me that Royal Mail no longer credit or pay for days off that happen on bank holidays as they look upon it that you have had your rest day! Surely this is not case & if he is wrong how can I get my bank holiday credits?

Thanks

Your manager is wrong , stick a grievance in, you won't get a credit for the 26th as it was a non service day

The choice is yours - a an extra days leave, or pay for your contracted hours that day.

Your manager is a liar!

Bank and public holidays
In Royal Mail:
• If a bank holiday falls on a day you would normally work, you take the day off.
• If your rest day falls on a bank holiday, your manager will check if workload allows for you to have
another day off that week.
• If you are unable to take another day off, you can either:
 add the day to your annual holiday entitlement; or
 take the excess hours paid as overtime. This will be paid at the Monday to Saturday overtime rate
• If you work for Parcelforce Worldwide, ask your manager how bank holidays are dealt with.
• If you have a part-time contract, your bank holiday allowance will be pro-rated depending on the
number of days you work, e.g.:.

 5 day contract – full entitlement of 8 bank holidays
 2 day contract – 3 bank holidays.

Friday 25th 2020 was a Bank Holiday
Monday 28th 2020 was a Bank holiday
Saturday 26th 2020 was a non uso day, WAS NOT A BANK HOLIDAY

My edit of the arrangements;

LTB 513-20 Peak Christmas Arrangements 26.10.20

Attachment – Peak Christmas Arrangements 26.10.20

Peak/Christmas Arrangements 2020
1. Introduction
This document summarises the operational arrangements for Peak/Christmas 2020. Robust staffing arrangements will be required throughout this period to ensure customer/operational needs and USO obligations are met in line with workload forecast and taking into account the aspirations of our employees. These arrangements cover OPGs,…….

3. Attendance and Resourcing Arrangements

3.3 Saturday 26th December is not a bank holiday. We have agreed with Ofcom that it is a non USO day so there will be no USO collections or deliveries. However, there will be a requirement to collect, process and deliver Covid-19 test kits, as well as collection from POL outlets. On Sunday 27th December there is a requirement to collect, process and deliver Covid-19 test kits, and we are further required to deliver T24 parcels posted from Christmas Eve on this Sunday, with an expectation that this will be an LAT style service. Monday 28th December will be the bank holiday and again there is a requirement to collect, process and deliver Covid-19 test kits.

Where service requires attendance on Saturday 26th December, people attending will be paid at scheduled attendance Monday to Saturday rate.

These additional attendances during this weekend will be on a voluntary basis with work covered utilising the full range of resourcing options.

3.6 In line with normal Christmas bank holiday and non USO service day arrangements, people who would normally be scheduled to work on the day of the bank holiday or non USO service day for the provision of USO collection and delivery services and non USO parcel operations will not be required to attend and not be required to make up the hours.

So as rogersh posted, you are owed 1 day for the 28th.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low life c***s they have always been.

Thanks for advice everyone, will speak to my manager on Monday but doubt if he'll listen to me. If I contacted HR could they confirm my entitlement?

If your manager won't listen phone HR and start the grievance procedure

Hey guys, just wanted to jump on this post rather than start a new one. Bank holiday Monday 30th August, I am still awaiting payment for this day. I am a reserve, my manager put my normal day off on the bank holiday Monday, instead of having a day off in the week. I have not been paid, my manager said there is error in the system, and royal mail is not sure why it is happening, apparently it has happened to alot of people. Still waiting and no time scales given on when it will be resolved! Where do I stand on this??

Thankyou
is your union rep aware of this?
you need to cross check that particular week
if you have the people app it grey's out all your previous days off on the leave calendar, and for those on a regular rota, the projected days in future, obviously this bit can't be done for reserves
once you have that info showing you only had that bank holiday day off that week but not received either a credit or payment for it call HR up and let them know,
if they say you need to speak to your dom, just say you have and its still not been resolved,
i'd also get the others affected to do the same
