Re: Suspected redirection fraud
You don't, you deliver to the address its addressed to, you don't deliver to names you deliver to addresses unless a special instruction or redirection is in place

Re: Suspected redirection fraud
Where’s the fraud? A redirection should give you plenty of time to inform people of your move.

Re: Suspected redirection fraud
Years ago, when I was a floater one of the regular customers moved away and put in a years redirection. New owner moved in the week after they left. First day after the redirection had been removed by the locker staff a year later I killed off the mail for them. Got to the house that day and they were back! They had taken a year out to travel India with the family.
Once the redirection finishes the mail is delivered as addressed. Until the new owner tells you they don't want it.
There's a number for the DOIT team that you can ring and they will phone the customer in case it might be fraud.

If you know they are definetly not at that address anymore then just kill any mail for them off with red stickers, tick the box that addressee no longer at address and return to sender
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: Suspected redirection fraud
For God's sake just deliver everything to any address that doesn't have a redirection.
Why are you worried it's not your problem so don't get involved.
And don't ever do as above- deliver everything as addressed, no exceptions- unless the customer hands you back the mail and tells you.

Re: Suspected redirection fraud
It’s the title of this thread that has lost me. There is no fraud. It’s just a case of somebody that is 1. Too lazy to update their details 2. Too tight to take out another redirection. Royal Mail write to them at their new address well in advance to warn them the redirection is running out. As above just deliver the stuff, it’s not your problem.Dindin wrote: ↑11 May 2021, 19:34New household receives bank statement important mail etcGrumpyoldmailman wrote: ↑11 May 2021, 19:20You lost meDindin wrote: ↑11 May 2021, 19:17It expires then is delivered has addressedGrumpyoldmailman wrote: ↑11 May 2021, 19:08Where’s the fraud? Re: Suspected redirection fraud
never take mail back off a customer (unless its a misdelivery) ask them to put in post box if said item goes missing or doesn't return to sender then you'll carry the canDexydog wrote: ↑11 May 2021, 21:40For God's sake just deliver everything to any address that doesn't have a redirection.

Theres no 'official' way of being told not toebbzie wrote: ↑11 May 2021, 21:46Absolutely not. The person living at the address saying 'such and such doesnt live here' isnt official is it? Thats one persons words with no record of having said them. Yet thats what 99% of posties take as the ok to bump the mail gone away. Them writing 'does not live here' on the mail isnt official either.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: Suspected redirection fraud
I had a redi once, that was then redied again at the redied address, now that IS fraud!
redied is not a proper word that goes with my sentence.
redied : simple past tense and past participle of redie

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
