Trolleys/bags on back
When should a trolley be used?
Is the answer ‘always’?
You have one bundle of mail and 2 light packets, should you be using a trolley?
You have 2 bundles, no packets, trolley again?

There is no need to use a trolley if there is no need.Jiperjuper wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 16:26When should a trolley be used?

We can all be awkward at times but there's taking the piss.
If a bag feels heavy to you then use the trolley, obviously that will be different for everyone.
I knew a guy who did the trolley for anything thing, I think he ended up medically retired.

Re: Trolleys/bags on back
lwts are MANDATORY equipment and have been since p&l was introduced so its simple just use it , the lwts are meant to carry 2 bags so why not use it to put mail in 1 bag and parcels in the other , as it would save time delivering parcels out the van , i use my lwt everyday regardless and havent carried a bag in over 10 years and i dont get back pain or neck pain from carrying bags anymoreWoody Guthrie wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 17:06There is no need to use a trolley if there is no need.Jiperjuper wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 16:26When should a trolley be used?

Re: Trolleys/bags on back
I think the weight limit for carrying a bag is 8kg maybe? So anything over 8kg would merit a LWT.

Beware of drivers 'forcing' you to take THEIR large parcels.Jiperjuper wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 16:26When should a trolley be used?

The trolley is for your benefit not theirs.

Re: Trolleys/bags on back
down to personal preference isn't it.
in my instance, i'll not bother packing in the first bundle and cram as much stuff into a bag as possible. Obviously it means I can then just lug the bag onto my shoulder and then carry the first bundle in my arm.
if it takes up more than one bag, i'm taking an LWT.
only carry what you're comfortable with.

Re: Trolleys/bags on back
why would the driver force you to take THERE parcels if you both use a lwt ? funny enough you work together ( team work ) to get the job done , you sound like one selfish personyubin282 wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 19:32Beware of drivers 'forcing' you to take THEIR large parcels.Jiperjuper wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 16:26When should a trolley be used?

Re: Trolleys/bags on back
No it's not down to personal preference, like it has been mentioned above it is mandatory, the only time you don't use a trolley is when you're delivering to flats. If you've only got one bundle and a few small packets then your loop isn't long enough or you could take some larger items that would still fit in a bag. A carried bag should be no more than 8kg. If you have an accident or injury to your back and you've been seen by a manager carrying over weight bags then you won't be covered.xPandabear1992x wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 22:35down to personal preference isn't it.

Re: Trolleys/bags on back
when p&l came in and the dutys where built , they had to put in your 318 ( duty builder ) if you couldnt use a lwt ie no foot paths , flats etc and yes the weight is 8kg and they where smaller bags , BUT if theres nothing in your 318 saying you cant use them , its simple you use the kit

Re: Trolleys/bags on back
Why would you not take a parcel if it fits in? That's just ridiculous if its in your loop and your passing. Not like you're carrying it is it?yubin282 wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 19:32Beware of drivers 'forcing' you to take THEIR large parcels.Jiperjuper wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 16:26When should a trolley be used?
