CARS ON DELIVERY
2 questions here
(1) what exactly do royal mail cover you for when you drive to your duty?
(2) why are you not allowed to carry mail or parcels back to the office your car?
thanks

Re: CARS ON DELIVERY
Third party only.
Covering anything you damage but not damage to you or your vehicle.
You're not allowed to carry mail because that would require courier insurance to cover the goods.

Re: CARS ON DELIVERY
what about your PDA are you allowed to take that in your car to delivery?
so are you just insured by royal mail to your first point of delivery? what is it called basic business insurance?

Re: CARS ON DELIVERY
You have to have basic business cover on your own insurance.endofdays1982 wrote: ↑01 May 2021, 22:26what about your PDA are you allowed to take that in your car to delivery?

Royal Mail's cover is only third party.
The PDA is a grey area, it's probably okay is it would be considered a 'tool" not goods but if it was damaged or stolen it would not be covered under Royal Mail's insurance so you would have to claim from your own cover.

Re: CARS ON DELIVERY
From Royal Mail's point of view it's a breach of mail integrity and security which can be considered gross misconduct leading to dismissal.endofdays1982 wrote: ↑01 May 2021, 22:31so some of these guys that haven't got a clue that bring parcels back to the office in their car, what happens if they have a crash if no courier insurance, is it royal mail they are in trouble with or thier insurance?
From your insurers point of view it would probably invalidate your cover so bye, bye car.

I’d think the Police too if they see them.If a sharp copper sees what’s happening He will most likely realise Your driving without insurance.Your policy documents are quite specific these days.endofdays1982 wrote: ↑01 May 2021, 22:31so some of these guys that haven't got a clue that bring parcels back to the office in their car, what happens if they have a crash if no courier insurance, is it royal mail they are in trouble with or thier insurance?

Re: CARS ON DELIVERY
The offence would lead to an IN10 endorsement of driving without insurance.
An idea if the penalty for that is here https://www.keithmichaels.co.uk/convict ... insurance/

you cant carry mail in your car as your not insured for business and if you got stopped by the police , they would take your car for not having insurance . and even if you paid for business insurance your going against royal mails policy .

Re: CARS ON DELIVERY
It would be courier use. In that scenario the police would if the postie had business use and not courier use, treat it as driving with no insuranceworktotime wrote: ↑02 May 2021, 22:20third party only so if you had accident or any damage to your car your not covered ,endofdays1982 wrote: ↑01 May 2021, 17:342 questions here

Re: CARS ON DELIVERY
okay if theirs idiots running about with parcels in their car their running the risk of being caught without proper insurance, that be stupid.
On the plus side if they are driving to their run without anything then it be covered third party by royal mail it seems, but the only way i can see you could get fully comprensenhsive insurance would be to phone your insurance and get business insurance for your car, imagine that would cover your own car?

Re: CARS ON DELIVERY
Some insurers might insist on someone still having business use on their policy even if it's just for driving out to their run, they should check with their insurerendofdays1982 wrote: ↑03 May 2021, 20:28okay if theirs idiots running about with parcels in their car their running the risk of being caught without proper insurance, that be stupid.
