RMC : RMtv : Falling behind Amazon - You must do more

Post by POSTMAN »

We usually come out on top when we hear from our customers each month about what they think of us and our competitors.

At the moment, that’s just not happening. In this week’s RMtv, chief customer officer, Nick Landon, focuses on why it’s imperative we work together to win back customers’ trust.

‘All of our pride should be dented by Amazon Logistics taking top spot. The good news is, customers say our posties on the doorstep remain the best,’ says Nick. ‘It’s other elements of our delivery experience that need improving – including being on time, and better tracking.

‘That’s why everyone in our pipeline has a role to play in getting us back to number one.’

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Considering Amazon despatch most of the stuff they are delivering directly from their own warehouses what do they expect?

What pride Nick?

Dear Nick

It is attitudes like yours that the CEO needs to deal with if he is ever going to get the frontline posties have trust in senior management.

By "you must do more" obviously makes it my fault that I have to walk to delivery because the company won't hire enough vans. It is also my fault that people have been self isolating and RM has a workload far beyond anything that had ever been planned for.

Really sorry about that.

We've been working with one hand tied behind our back for over a year now in our office, and in many others, through unprecedented volumes of parcels, out for 5-6 hours a day.

But, you must do more.

I've had it.

I'd like to see Amazon deliver letters as well.
Probably leave those on the doorstep too for anyone to take.

Cheeky F****r!!
The parcel workload tripled through the pandemic with next to no extra resources to manage it, and then he has the cheek to blame the workforce for not trying hard enough :evil/mad That's despite the fact that everyone worked their arses off to keep things going last year. Without us 'going the extra mile' the service would have completely collapsed under the pressure.

We need to be "on time" do we??
I'll give an example of what a load of absolute crap that statement is, and how as postmen we have no control over this-
I recently received a text message to say my tracked parcel would be delivered by RM, at guess what time?- it stated between 7.41am and 12.51pm..
I live in the area my office delivers from- we don't even leave the office until 8.45am at the absolute earliest!
Last letter, probably gone 2.30pm most days.

1.how can I deliver an item at 7.41 when I'm still at the office prepping?
2.how am I supposed to know a tracked has a window finishing at 12.51?
3.how can I deliver that item by 12.51 anyway if I'm just over half way round?
4. I have brought this issue up numerous times with DOM as I am sick of delivering to customers who then complain the item should have been there 2 hours ago.

So before blaming us, perhaps get your own house in order first.
It really does boil my piss how incompetent this company is.

We don't have any direct competitors to compare ourselves with.
There are some who do some of the same things and others who do other things the same but nobody does the entire thing like we do.

If you order something from Amazon outside their fulfilment network it can take weeks and it ends up with us delivering it and copping the blame for the length of time it takes.

We do need more scanning into the network though so that customers can clearly see that the wait time is mostly the fault of the seller's distribution network not ours.

One of the advantages we have over Amazon is a safe place to take items to when the customer is not in. Unfortunately Royal Mail has not returned the caller's offices to the opening times pre-lockdown, thus making it harder to collect said items, also for customers wishing to drop off prepaid items. Royal Mail really need to consider making it easier for customers to access the system, paying an extra 75p per item for us to collect it is not cost effective for a lot of people.

Does the clown realise that WE deliver a lot of Amazons stuff and the average customer seeing 'Amazon' on the parcels will think its Amazon that delivered it?
