Shoe recommendations

I've been wearing the Magnum shoe ever since I started Royal Mail over 12 years ago, they've now discontinued these.
So as the title says, any recommendations for the standard issued Royal Mail footwear ?

I had the Anvil Trainer briefly but they rubbed my feet to bits and I ended up swapping them for a pair of Magnums with a colleague.

Thinking of giving the Easyflex Waterproof Trainer a try.

The decision to discontinue them was taken without consulting me.
All those trainers provide little or no support and wear out in about 3 months.
The DMs are good but need about 18 months to break in.

I might consider buying some (non RM brand) or occasionally some appear on ebay.

Give the magnum banderas a try, I suffer from plantar and I find they're the best for me, they are quite wide fitting and I get a size up and fit some decent insoles.

I've used the Easyflex trainer for 2 years. i find that the bottom liner in the trainer wears out first and then the sole next. if you can get a pair to last 6 months you are doing well. i stick with them because they are lightweight and suit me. i had a terrible time with the Magnum boots. as with most things it's personal preference.

I agree. Took me 2 years to discover the Magnums. I went through the rest of the so called trainers and was always put off by the magnums as they were shoes rather than trainers. Unlike the others they are surprisingly soft and easy on the feet.

I like the magnum shoe because it offers arch support, anyone know which of the current shoes royal mail supply us offer the same protection for the arch

I’ve been wearing Magnums for about 8 years. Nothing else was good enough. The pain was unbearable with other types. Now they are discontinued I’m struggling to break in the magnum banderas. Sore feet all week. Great for this job (not). Looks like they should be ok once they are softened up a bit. I have to miss loops out on the laces though so it doesn’t pull tight on my sore areas. Privately I wear Merrell walking boots. They are fantastic. But £120ish.

I didn't know magnums had been discontinued until i ordered some and was sent the Taormina shoes as replacement. I was a size 8.5 magnum but they sent size 9 because there are no half sizes now. They are too big but i think size 8 would be too small like magnums were. Worst thing about them is that they appear to be only like a good quality slipper - no strength in the mid sole to hold the feet firm whilst walking. If i keep them i fear i'll suffer problems. I'm holding out for the new non safety boot to come into stock because it looks more like the size of the magnums around the ankle.
Just wish they hadn't dropped the magnums.

I'll fly the flag for the Magnum Banderas as well. Used to suffer from Plantars, not saying they cured it but I've had no more flare ups. Some might consider them a bit heavy, but I'm not an ultra fit marathon runner!

They're pretty good in the wet, I've often walked through deep puddles with no problems. I've got WIDE feet and they fit straight from the box, although I'll alternate them with an old pair for a few weeks until they loosen up a bit. I used to buy my own years ago, including some expensive walking boots, but I got fed up with footing the bill (no pun intended).

Depends how much you are prepared to spend of your own money to protect your feet I suppose.

I had no idea this had happened. Have the Magnum boots also been discontinued???

What's the nearest equivalent to the Magnum boots (RYZ3) now? They got rid of the DMs about five years ago and I had to settle for those.
