Signing off revision

I’m currently on holiday this week and was asked by manager to sign of table top revision when I come back on Monday, I’m not a rep and we don’t have one in our office, however the local rep has said any union member could sign it off as it’s not a major revision, I’ve briefly seen the changes and we are going to lapse 2 more walks as well as current lapsing and put on our frames that’s going on 5 shared vans meaning 10 walks.we will have our parcels come off as guys on these 2 walks will just do parcels in afternoon. As they’ve apparently agreed they will start at 10 and do 30 mins delivery each then just parcels, no one seems happy to be doing approximately 45 minutes extra delivery as losing parcels won’t be that much off it. Dom has said it’s got to be Done but should I sign it off and am I allowed to do this? If people aren’t happy, what is next step as someone contacted me to say they want to refuse the change and it’s starting to get a bit messy,

If you don't have a rep it is down to the area rep.
I have never heard of "just anyone" signing off a revision - tabletop or otherwise.

Tell him you are going to disagreement over the revision.
If he says you can't because you are not the rep then you can't sign it off either.

Take on more streets and parcels taken off.......six months later, joes left and there's no one to do the parcels and we need to lose hours so you got them back, you can keep the streets as well, and don't forget your lapsing.

Yes I thought it was strange but apparently area rep hasn’t got time so he said just get a member to do it! Also with people unhappy about this I’m not comfortable signing this off , he is just trying to rush it through as he says it has to be done by end of April but once it’s in there will be no turning back so you’re right I will contact area rep and let him know of concern

O we were told it’s happening and no choice basically and even area rep said it’s the way forward agreement and we can’t refuse to change!

Your area rep has no disciplinary powers over you so tell him/her to do one.

I agree. Can't have your cake AND eat it. Sounds like your DOM is trying to pull a fast one. Why hasn't your DO got a Rep? It's this kind of crap that Unit Reps are able to fight. There's a lot of changes ahead with Revisions and the SWW I'd get someone voted in as Rep ASAP!

Speaking as someone with over 30 years experience and 20 years in various CWU roles from unit rep, area delivery rep and branch secretary it never backfires on those causing the problem.

They just jump ship to another duty.

If a revision goes to an office vote, who can vote to accept/refuse it - everybody in the office or just CWU members?

If it's CWU members only what is the % of members required to vote for a result to be valid?
What is the % of votes cast required to confirm a result?

1. CWU members only.
2. A simple majority.
3. As long as everyone is given the opportunity to vote there is no lower threshold.

It's seems every DO has a Cabal of (generally the most senior) Posties that are always happy with the status quo because I suits them very well.

Whenever a Progressive Union Rep tries to rebalance the workload it's inevitably this Cabal that tries to throw a spanner in the works! I'm not saying every Union Rep is innocent because sometimes they're a member, and only try and help their little clique. Vote them out!

RM rely on this apathy to push through changes. It's hard enough when you've got a Rep. I can only imagine the chaos nowadays when you haven't got one. I used to work in a DO without one and the DOM ran it like his own little fiefdom ... Didn't even have a Pressure OT sheet or Accident Book

He fed the staff so much BS that they didn't know what they were, and weren't, entitled to. It was pathetic to see Old Timers (who knew no better) working Excessive OT thinking "Well I've GOT to complete because the DOM says the traffic figures show it's possible"... Staff getting regularly stitched up by not having Bank Holiday Days Off in Lieu ....... NEVER having WTLL sessions (giving them all that Budget Time over literally decades). It was stressful for someone from "The Outside" to observe.

Needless to say I didn't stay there long and transferred. I think the DOM was glad to see the back of this Trouble Maker who had the audacity to insist they were actually paid for Pressure Overtime, or they wouldn't take it. Asshole!
