Temporary full time contracts

Post by Martinbrundle10 »

Hi all!

Does anyone have any idea on the duration of time you’d need to be on this sort of contract before it’s considered permanent full time? Been doing LAT shifts for 31 months now. I feel they’ve got me by the nether regions!

Thanks! Martin

Part-time colleagues’ contracted hours will be jointly reviewed every March and
September. Where appropriate, increased contracted hours will be offered to reflect
the hours actually worked and planned.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Thanks for your response! I did use the search bar as I’d imagined this topic would have been discussed.

Next Q:

We started on the LAT shift on a 4 day week, they thought it was too good for us having extra days off so all of a sudden it was changed to a 5/6 rotation ‘agreed by the union’ however without discussion, he’s now changed our shifts yet again without consulting us to start at 12pm ‘in line with a national agreement’?
He is using the fact we are on a temporary full time contract as leverage over us because if we say no, we will drop down to a 32:45 hour contract? Is this allowed?
We have a revision upcoming like a lot of offices and there will be a number of staff will be made up to full time. There are 4 of us (2 of which are not senior enough to make the cut, excluding myself)

So my questions are:

Can they take a temporary full time contract off of someone and give it to another member of staff on a permanent basis?

Can my hours just be changed without notice? I’ve been in the business a lot longer than the 31 months on lats.

Have I got any say in all this? I feel dehumanised and backed into a corner to protect a full time contract for the benefit of my life in al honesty.
