Annual Leave allowance

Post by Spinks182 »

Hi looking for some advice please.

I have worked for royal mail as a postman for about 22 years over 2 periods of fulltime employment. I have recently discovered that at the start of my second period of employment my annual leave allowance had been reset as if I was a new starter back down to 4 and a half weeks.

Now i read in the Way Forward Agreement that annual leave allowance must include all periods of employment so surely my allowance should include the 10 years of employment accrued during my first period of employment with Royal Mail?

I have brought this up with my union rep but he says that because my gap in employment is around 2 years i lose any annual leave allowance accrued during my first period of employment. I can't find any information to back this up at all but he is adamant he is right? Honestly i thought the same as him so i have been paying for extra leave allowance for quite some time!

If anyone can help shed some light on this i would be eternally grateful!

Your rep is wrong.
Contact HR or get your manager to do it.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Yes your rep is wrong, surely it would have been easy for him to find out the true facts!

Anyway that aside I was in a similar situation albeit quite a while ago and my manager sorted it with HR and I got a refund of the poal that I'd been paying.
