Question about pay increments

Post by Yabbadabbadoo1 »

Hi, I joined as a postie 3 months ago on about £10.60 p.h (approx). I am on a initial 6 months contract.

My manager says that I should be made permanent after this period - does anyone know how likely this is?
Also, does my pay increase after a time period?

Thanks in advance

Not sure what your manager means about being permanent after 6 months, that is almost unheard of.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

He's on a temporary 6 month contract.
Probably because of the revisions.
Seems to happen every time there's major change coming but the manager will probably know if they're going to keep him on.

All of our new recruits (non-agency) have been taken on on 6 month temporary for the past couple of years. They've all (those that haven't left for their own reasons) been retained and upgraded to permanent contracts (albeit on thoroughly inadequate hours, as is usual).

I presume that, as with many RM practices, this is only employed in areas where the area manager or his boss feel they can get away with it rather than it being a company-wide thing.
