Rest day in week of Bank Holiday

I usually have a rest day on a weds but because its on the week of the Bank Holiday then I have to work it or take it as annual leave. Is this right, or should everyone still have a rest day in a bank Holiday week, on top of the bank holiday?

Pretty much anyone who doesn't have a rolling day off will have their day off as the bank holiday for staffing reasons. I have a rolling day off and mine falls on the bank holiday, which I was going to claim as overtime, but my manager has already given me the annual leave back without asking

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can request another day off, and failing that, you have the option of claiming as overtime or getting a days leave back. Another day off in the week "might" suddenly materialise if you want the overtime, as I think managers don't like paying it.

Thanks for your reply. So does this mean they can't just take away my rest day? And that we are all entitled to a rest day or pay for one on top of of the bank holiday day off?

If they have changed your rest day to the bank holiday , you are entitled to a day added to your leave or to be paid for that day, ultimately your manager is naughty for changing your rest day
