I have seen people suspended and then threatened to be sacked when managers (ahem) have alleged to have 'found' just a handful of mail in a returned pouch bag the next day. Even when the loop pouches were alone in the DO overnight unsupervised. :whistle so this is indeed sackable.

They want rid, the twats want to make a name for themselves so why make it easy?

This is not a job where you can constantly watch your back every second of the day so if you are prone to make mistakes or take any sort of dangerous shortcuts find another job before they find you.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Not as serious as theft, but close. Security of mail, failure to follow guidelines - it could be messy.

It would also depend on the product being used to send the item ie tracked and the instructions for the tracked item on the label

Don't do it. EVER.
Not even if it says on the item 'leave in such and such a place'.
F/L, all the way. You can't be sacked for that.

It's always good to remember, when you leave an item somewhere and the recipient gets it, it's all good.
The second an item goes missing, complaints are filed and YOU are held responsible.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Mainly its a slap on the wrist for a 1st offense, any more than that though its big trouble. Thats the experience from MY office, i cant speak of what other offices would do. I think it depends on the manager.

As stated before possibly sackable. Why even think about doorstepping in the current climate.
