Not a new situation mate. Search through some of the older posts on here and you'll see it's a recuring problem. This company is not very good at managing it's New Starters, to say the least. :no no

I always tell New Starters, worried like yourself, to try and not get stressed about the situation. Just do your job "Properly", don't pick up any bad habits from the other Posties, and never WORK FOR FREE!.

Most New Starters worry about this probation period but most Delivery Offices are so short staffed at present that it's Highly Unlikely that you won't be kept on. :cuppa

Got a few like that at our office who are worried. I told one we have 20 vacancies they won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. The manager didn’t even know about the contracts ending. Really after a year you should be made permanent but I have no idea why Royal Mail keep people guessing.

Your right it’s now a new thing but it has certainly got alot worse in the last year as the only jobs they seem to be offering are temp roles whilst they try and get the uso reduced. At ours anybody who is any good seems to leave when they are past halfway through the contract as management can’t give them assurances and they have been applying elsewhere for the stability.
