Dear all,
I was told by my manager that there are no plans to give out F/T contracts at least till the revision which will happen in the near future.
Few months ago they told us that there will be a position for a F/T at the start of the new financial year(2021 April).
Our office already recruited 2 xmas casuals on a 25 hours per week p/t contract but was not interested to make couple of us who works very hard in the office.
Do you think revision will open up few vacancies or this is just a story made up by the manager....The DOM doesnt mind us working as full timers but as per him he has a hard time convincing his boss to agree on this matter :)
Thanks in advance

Re: Revision and opportunity for F/T contracts
It'll depend to an extent on how your office wants to organise itself after the revision. In fairness, that's something that can't be known until the DOM and rep and (possibly) planner work out what's possible, what's practical and what serves best the various vested interests within the office.

Re: Revision and opportunity for F/T contracts
In theory it should mean increased hours for many.
But RM penny-pinching and incompetent CWU will no doubt see the opposite.
In my office probably 75% of part-timers work at least 2 hours OT per day and have done for the last 12 months.
At least 3 full-timers doing 2 hours OT early starts every day for at least 5 years.
Quite a few regularly working days off.
In my estimate that's at least 100 hours OT given out every week plus 'new parcel duties and Sunday working'.
Will this be factored into the revision..... i have major doubts.

Don't forget when it comes to PT being made up to FT it goes by seniority

Thank you all for the replies.
We do get lots of OT but it would be great at least few of us receiving FT contracts..

Re: Revision and opportunity for F/T contracts
It was 5 years ago 2 of my colleagues were given FT contracts.Since that many PTs joined and few left the job as well. I'm the next senior staff due a FT contract.
I joined the RM after 2 months those 2 guys started the job as part timers. Unlucky me....
