Waterproof boots?

Post by VanZan »

My brother is a postman with An Post here in Ireland. He asked me to try to find him a decent pair of steel toe cap waterproof boots. Never bought a pair myself so I did the obvious thing and checked Amazon. Best I can do is this pair but they're suspiciously cheap:

Is there anything you guys would recommend? As you might guess he's got ones issued by An Post which aren't the best. Specifically water gets in at the "tongue" of the boot.

Thanks for any help.

I would be surprised if any posties on here wear steel toecap boots, they are just to heavy to do a walk in, maybe some of the lorry drivers do, sorry to be negative.

Recreationally I use sealskinz socks that are waterproof then go lighter with some gortex lined boots.

The socks are expensive but are very thick and keep your feet bone dry. Try a pair you won’t go back.

The best and only in my experience waterproof RM supplied "trainers" seem to be the Michelin ones. They are styled more like walking boots and havn't let me down so far!

I bought my own jack wolfskin boots couple of years ago. Still brilliant to this day having done hundreds of walks during the winter in them. Cost about £120 though. But it beats wearing the magnums :chuckle
