We have collected all our mental health content for colleagues into one dedicated mental health webpage on myroyalmail.com https://www.myroyalmail.com/yourmentalhealth
It’s the go-to place for links to mental health support and resources, hints and tips, plus stories from colleagues talking about their own personal mental health experiences – their challenges and successes.
Dr Shaun Davis, our global director compliance and sustainability, has recorded a video introduction to the new webpage, giving an overview of why looking after our mental health is so important for each and every one of us – and how we can do that. To listen click hereOpens in a new window.
Dr Shaun says: ‘Mental health is an incredibly important area. And the reason that it is so important is that it is one of those areas that affects us all – either directly or indirectly.
‘I am sure that we have all either experienced mental health challenges ourselves or certainly know people around us who have.
‘A well-known quoted stat is that one in four people will be affected by a mental health condition in their life.
‘We really want a culture where people will talk to their line manager or colleagues and the old saying of “a problem shared is a problem halved” is very true.
‘We’ve also got really professional tools that people can draw upon – through our Feeling First Class programme and our health and wellbeing ambassadors in the field, who can help you understand and to be directed to some of those areas where you can get additional help and advice and support.’
Dr Shaun Davis advises that mental health is a journey, not a destination. With that in mind, we’ll be adding and uploading new content to the webpage regularly – so keep checking back for updates.
And if you’ve got your own mental health story to tell – drop us a line at rmcommunications@royalmail.com. We would love to hear from you and to be able to share your story with others - who may be feeling just the same or facing similar issues.
Dr Shaun Davis is the author of two books about Mental Health Positive Male Mind https://lidpublishing.com/book/positive-male-mind/and https://lidpublishing.com/book/positive ... -health-2/ (both books co-authored with Andrew Kinder http://www.andrewkinder.co.uk/)

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

What a load of bolloc£s.
I bet a large percentage of those with mental health issues, if asked, would say their managers caused it or massively contributed it.
