If that is the case and there are no monetary rewards for slave driving and no brownie points for moving up the slippery slope of management then why would managers be so aggressive with saving hours rather than the DO performance as far as actual delivery of mail and packets being the best it can be?

Management bonus structure
I've been told that taking hours our of the office by either good management
or aggressive use of lapsing doesn't make any difference to bonuses at year end for managers......

Re: Management bonus structure
We have a post on here somewhere with how their bonuses are worked out, I think there's about 9 targets they have to hit.
Any managers on here, can you send me the critea? In confidence.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Most of what drives these guys is fear not money.
Fear of the spotlight, being the worst performing in the area.
Fear of being ripped to shreds by the OM on the conference call of doom.
Fear of ending up on the dole with only Royal Mail manager on your CV.
They know the outside world will eat them alive.

I was once in a conference call off the Area Manager on some `joint` union bollocks annoucement. and it was the most cringe worthy thing I have ever seen, grown men and women nearly in tears and grovelling and trying to out do each other and all trying to avoid the worst office tag.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!

Yes I have to say I’ve been in the office and heard the conference call of shame!,i very nearly dropped my guard and felt sorry for the boss to endure that every morning, and that was on a good day, what a rat race that must be,when your up against it with staff shortage etc,but then that’s the nature of the beast,it’s no wonder they don’t smile much, and come at us guns blazing to cover this and lapse that etc

Ha Ha Very Good WoodyAlways amuses me when we have a "Huddle" and the DOM starts spouting off about where we stand on the Area League Table ..... as if we were a Bloody Football Team!
He once spoke to me about something that would effect our Office perfomance figures and I asked him, "And how does that directly effect me? Do I get a Bonus if we hit all our targets".... He had to admit that I wouldn't be getting a Productivity Bonus and walked away looking pissed off!

I often wonder why they take so much crap from their own Managers? They've got a Union haven't they? Surely they could put in some sort of Harassment & Bullying charge against their own managers?General Mannerheim wrote: ↑19 Feb 2021, 17:43Once again i'm in full agreement with Woody.

Re: Management bonus structure
Don’t think they will be getting a bonus this as 2000 of them are going including quite a few at line managers level

Re: Management bonus structure
I know a couple of managers who have made complaints about B&H from their bosses but they're faced with the same problems we are in that it's usually a mate of their boss that hears the case, it didn't end well for either of them. Both were more or less pushed into resigning.robbertwhitton wrote: ↑21 Feb 2021, 18:36Yes good point,I’ve often wondered who fights there corner, with all the stress and hassle they tell us they are under, don’t hear much about it,Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑21 Feb 2021, 13:56I often wonder why they take so much crap from their own Managers? Re: Management bonus structure
Most of em need to grow a pair and stand up to their area manager. Instead they bow down and then take it out on us. And so the cycle cobtinues...which is why most offices are badly run.robbertwhitton wrote: ↑20 Feb 2021, 02:33Yes I have to say I’ve been in the office and heard the conference call of shame!,i very nearly dropped my guard and felt sorry for the boss to endure that every morning, and that was on a good day, what a rat race that must be,when your up against it with staff shortage etc,but then that’s the nature of the beast,it’s no wonder they don’t smile much, and come at us guns blazing to cover this and lapse that etc
