Can anybody advise been on sick leave for 2 weeks and had a telephone interview with OH who reported back that I am not fit to work at any capacity in the future for RM. Have 37 years service and cashed in the pension 3 years ago. Am I entitled to some sort of a lump sum to finish through ill health and whats the next step.Thanks.

Aye. As you've had the telephone interview then a report will be sent to your DOM and he will invite you in to sign the forms to you agree to ill health retirement, this all depend when or how quick the DOM wants shut of you, but most of the time in our office it will be roughly 2 weeks from the interview and the leaving money is in the bank, but sometimes they like to piss about especially if your face doesn't fit in the first place and string it out.
You will get roughly a years wages for ill health retirement 34 weeks wage plus 12 years PILON(pay in lieu of notice) and any holidays you have not used.

I now have a second interview with OH only 19 days after the first interview. Is is normal procedure or are they looking for a different outcome to the first. Thanks for the previous advice.

No. It's normal to get a follow up before you go. If they've decided that you can't do the job anymore the result will be the same.

IHR usually is a lump sum rather than a pension. It works out about £21.5k for a full timer.

You should be able to claim contributions based benefits? After all you've paid into the system!

I took IHR on the 6-02-21,I took the lump sum, I also claimed PIP last August, you need to get help filling in the form-book, I was refused but asked them to look again at my claim, my claim was successful in the end and was backdated to last August, its very difficult to claim PIP but if you are really unwell you can get it but you need to get help filling in the form.

My brother just applied for Pip you have to apply twice as you nearly always automatically get rejected the first time and most times you have to jump through hoops like have a tribunal but once it starts you get paid along with ESA which you should claim first about £330 a week that is obviously a lot of money for doing nothing that why you see council estates with fancy cars and big TVs!!!
It's what we pay taxes for.....joke innit!
Obviously some need help but most are chancers that's why they make it hard to get..... knackered feet may get you past the finish line just push the boat out YouTube is full of info of what to say to pass......state of the nation!

I’m in a similar position. First OH report stated I was unable to do my current role and advised my manager do a scoping exercise to look for alternative role. Manager came back and said she had done the exercise and no positions anywhere. More or less said I should return to my role or quit. I contacted the union who advised I ask for IHR. I’ve now got a second OH interview. Left me feeling super anxious. I don’t know what to expect with the second call. Do they ask same questions as the first?
