Priority On Delivery

Post by Blue Moses »

Throughout the pandemic in our office we have operated a system whereby all SDs and Tracked items have been delivered on all deliveries as priority with ordinary packets and letters coming a distant 3rd and 4th in importance.Indeed we were told that if we couldn't complete and didn't want o/t then we should bring back non tracked packets and mail.
Of course this has removed the pressure from people who normally struggled to complete simply working to their time and cutting off.
Similalrly, very often mail would be left unprepped on walks sometimes not being prepped for delivery for a number of days.
Management have not batted an eyelid at any of this for months.

All of a sudden this week we were informed by management that it's all change.
Now all mail must be prepped for delivery and all mail going out must be delivered packets included putting the pressure back on us.

Now,I know some will say we have a start and finish time etc but I'm wondering if this is a local thing or national.
Why the sudden change in attitude from 'bring it back/do your best' to 'you must complete delivery' ?
For instance I thought the USO had been suspended.
Any thoughts ?

Thats exactly what it is and theres quite a bit of smoke and mirrors going on. The more bodies that they have working for Royal Mail now - the better it looks when managers eventually go through their revisions. :shhhhh
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
