A way out of the crisis

We have already delivered more than two million vaccination letters

Chief commercial officer Nick Landon discussing why it’s important to prioritise them and how we’ve agreed a change to the envelope designs.

We’re demonstrating our key worker status once again by delivering those all-important letters informing customers that they can book a Covid-19 vaccination appointment.

Already, we have handled more than two million of the letters on behalf of Government and the NHS.

‘This is everybody’s way out of the current crisis,’ he says. ‘As soon as we get people vaccinated, they become safe and we can start to open up the country so we need to handle these in the right way and make sure that people get them on time and get their vaccines as quickly as they can.

‘This is a brilliant vote of confidence from the Government and the NHS in Royal Mail.’

please can you tell the managers this because rounds not being done regularly have only packets and parcels taken out, letters take a back seat (yes it happens every day in my office.)

Good god he can’t even be bothered to shave and put a shirt on anymore. Most likely still in his boxers/back to the pizza and PlayStation once he’s done his 5 minutes chatting rubbish about how he has the answers to an unprecedented world event. PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER MAN!!

Don't think this clown should be making statements like this :

"‘ ‘As soon as we get people vaccinated, they become safe and we can start to open up the country...."

Blue envelopes started going out in Scotland today

"a brilliant vote of confidence from the government and the NHS" - who would have thought that they would choose the ONLY company that has to deliver letters to deliver these letters. I can't see any of the couriers wanting to handle so many individual letters.

What is the point of such a patronising statement and video showing him happily sitting at home. Why not come out on a delivery, you'll see there is more to it than one postie with a small bundle in their arm.

Blue envelopes aren't going to be any more easily identifiable than white envelopes. They should have blue and white stripes on all edges which would make them stand out more

Its a delivery issue rather than a sorting issue, the blue envelopes will stand out in a sorting frame.

It's crazy that they have to be kept separate and not run on the CSS with the rest of the sequencing. If a walk's letters aren't going out then how does it make any difference whether they've been kept to one side our sequenced with the other mech mail?

I haven't watched the video but the NHS need to use different design envelopes for the COVID appointments to the standard letters encouraging the public to have the standard flu injection.
A number of weeks ago I had one of the letters we were told by RM were the Covid letters but it was just a letter about the standard flu injection.

Our DOM has certainly been pushing the, "Make sure every NHS letter is delivered on the day of arrival... even if you've got to back track if it's been mis-sorted"

However I have yet to find a single customer that hasn't already had the jab (closest I got was someone that was going to get it that afternoon). The Local Medical Centre was really on the ball and had already phoned everyone for a jab. The Letters I delivered were for the Main Hospital about 25 miles away.

Rumour has it that they were getting paid £18 for every Covid Jab that they administered. So it's basically turned into a "Dash for the Cash". But at least we got our finger in the pie as well. :cuppa

At the moment I am treating every NHS letter I get like a Special almost.

No trimming, and if it's a missort I'll go out of my way if I can. Even if it's on a neighbouring duty sometimes.
