Paternity policy

Post by thepostman22 »

Hi,

Would anyone have a copy of royal mails paternity policy? One of the guys in our office is getting screwed by a manager playing hardball.

Where does he stand re: a day off to attend a scan?

Thanks

If he requires a full day off he will need to take annual leave or ask his manager to grant him one day's unpaid leave. If he was working for me and only needed to take two or three hours off I'd ask him to make that time up.

Yes he would be entitled to have the day off for the scan which can't be refused if my memory serves me right, but would have to fund it himself, usually AL or if not unpaid.
That's usually how it goes.

Although the agreement actually says...
Fathers/partners of pregnant women - unpaid time off to attend up to two appointments.

Actual paternity leave has nothing about scans, here...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
